Okay, yesterday I purchased a pristene 1990 VFR750 and instantly fell in love. It had a fox twin clicker shock as well as a left-exit two-brothers high-mount exhaust. The sound of the V4 through that pipe was :censored:, and the previous owner who had the bike was a pretty good match for my build so everything was pretty well set up for me. I could definately feel it was heavier than the my 1990 ZX6D, but it was a :censored: blast.

Anyways, after about the 50 mile mark riding it home, I decided to stop and fuel up, which was uneventful. While trying to relocate the onramp to the freeway, some jackass in a grey silverado (not the 2007 redesign but the previous body) decides to run a stop sign across the road I was on. This would've been fine except he was about 2 inches in front of me when he did this, and I had been doing 70mph. I grabbed the front brake and jammed on the rear but I barely had any time to scrub off speed before we collided. Next thing I know, I'm lying in the middle of the road and he speeds off.

Aside from some bent forks and broken plastic I think the bike is alright, it still runs fine and shifts into all gears, but I got beat up pretty bad. My neck is pretty stiff and I have a nice rash and bruise on it that I can't quite figure out, and my shin has swollen to the point that it looks like I have an orange stuck in my leg under the skin and it's still bleeding pretty badly. Everything on me moves properly though, although it hurts like a sonofabitch.

I have plenty of pics that I'll be uploading shortly of the VFR (and my leg for those interested). I think the frame is fine and aside from the forks I think the wheel is straight (although it does have some rubber on the inside of it from the asshole's tire) but I don't think I'll be doing too much walking anytime soon.

Here's a picture of the bike before I picked it up:

Besides the slight rash on the lower it was flawless. (and the lower was cut off to allow the high-mount exhaust to fit without removing the entire cowl)

If anyone sees a grey Silverado with a red VFR shaped impact in the driver's side of the bed in the Delano area, shoot the guy for me please.

Here's some pics of the bike in its current state and of my wounds

I think only the forks from 90+ on the US models will work for me.

Anyways, it was late at night and on a long straight road with nobody in sight, I had no stop signs and there were a couple roads coming across it with stop signs, the guy slowed down like he was stopping at the sign, but then just plowed into the intersection. I think he glanced at me and thought I was farther down the road.

Anyways, looks like I just need forks, windscreen, mirror, fender, and a footpeg and I'll be back on the road. And not a moment too soon. I love the VFR already :)

Sory to hear about that, perhaps there was a camera at the gas station, and you could get a tape from it? You look somewhat beat up, and I'm sure you're sore as well, at least it sounds like no bones got broken. I just did a massive upgrade on my VFR, and have some of the parts you need, PM me if you're interested, and get better soon!!!!!

Just out of curiosity, what's the speed limit on the road? No, I'm not trying to blame you, or bust your balls about it, I'm not exactly a "drive the speed limit" kinda guy myself...I'm just curious.

Wow sorry to hear about that. From the way it sounds, you were VERY lucky all things considered. Plastic is much cheaper than the alternative

Well, there was no limit posted, and the road used to be a freeway before they built another one (CA 99) parallel to it, I was just looking for the onramp to the real freeway anyways

Talk to the workers at the store and people who work around the scene on the accidend. If that guy lives around there, they might see damage on his truck, get his tag#, and call you. Then, let the beatings begin.:boxing: :mad2: :argue:

He passed the gas station I filled up at and got straight on the freeway (if I'd known that was where the onramp was to go southbound this would've never happened :frown:) anyways they had no cameras and nobody noticed him.

Here's some photos my friend took as we disassembled the bike.

Did all the plastic welding, thanks to douglasthecook and sesand I have a new front-end mounted up with some nice adjustable forks, and numerous other odds and ends that needed replacement (and some that didn't!), also found out I left a lot more plastic behind than I originally thought, and found out I had a bent rotor too, but it is looking a lot more like a motorcycle now!

Glad to hear you are ok. What an ass that person was. I'll tell ya, I have had so many close calls for people running stoplights/stopsigns and such, I am always on the defense when i see someone pulling up to one. I slow down, and hand is on the brake and/or ready for evasive manuvers.

Keep the rubberside down and good luck nursing the old girl (and yourself) back to health.

Hey guys. Have to put on the mod hat for a sec. I cut a couple F-bombs out of the first post. In general we are pretty loose on here, but we usually draw the line just before the George Carlin or Eddie Murphy stage style...
