Greetings to all VF folks. I am modest collector of bikes (about 6 now), and I am looking for just the right 1st gen VF 45 (750 or 700) to buy. My hope is to find a blue based bike, in really solid condition, with limited aftermarket nonsense on it. Optimistic, yeah maybe. Patient, definitely.

So, pls keep an eye out for any early VF 750s that might look great in my garage. Distance is not a problem, and I am willing to pay a fair price for the right bike.

    Thanks

How about a description and/or pics of this "alleged" collection of yours.

Doesn't look like my Blue '83 qualifies!

Sorry, no luck getting the pic/video to load. Why does it not qualify? Lots of aftermarket?

Just uploaded a few pics now, and added my list of current bikes to my profile. Still seeking more bikes from my youth to get into the garage for the mid life crisis

See my signature at the bottom, but more than that, it needs work, hasn't run in 6-7 years.
I was trying to be funny with the aftermarket stuff on it! (But I still have all the stock stuff too.)
I am looking forward to restore it, not sell it.
I have had it for 30 years, but is sitting in my garage in NY as my wife and I settle our differences.
I will have shipped out here in the spring.

Just bumping this thread in case someone has a great, 1st or second gen 750 for sale. I let the perfect one slip away on ebay a month back- out bid buy someone in Japan! They are actually buying pristine US bikes and shipping them overseas... ugggghhhh.

    Thanks

Funny you say that, when I went in to look at a VFR RWB the salesman was all, "All the Asians are buying them up." I'm like WTH does that have to do with me wanting to buy the bike. Being 1/2 Korean, I didn't take too well to it, but I'm sensitive to that. I don't look asian, i'll just mention that.
I thought he was just being a Jack a$$ salesman.

Your story reminded me when I sold my CB1. It was to a Russian that said he would take it back to Europe and resell it. Basically a "Naked" before they were popular.

    Cheers,

    Bill

Thanks- the craiglist bike looks pretty rough, but I did send him an email. I do follow ebay routinely--- hard to find just the right one--- it needs to be 90% there, and the bodywork needs to be 100%. I am only seeking a 750.

They do come up sometimes, so I continue to watch ebay etc.

    I appreciate the ideas

I believe the lasting reputation of these bikes will be based upon the well-developed r/w/b '86 VFR700/750, not the earlier VF series. Alloy frame, gear-driven, non-wearing cams on updated engine is best deal VF's were development platforms for VFR.

That's why there are no VF700s in the Barbour Museum.

Paint job alone would cost you at least half the asking price out here
