We used to take a hack saw and saw off about 1/2 inch or so...

But... that was back in the dark ages!

Let me quote the Encyclopedia. Harley Davidson - a commercial name of the device used to convert liquid hydrocarbons into noise and smoke without side effects like speed or power.

I looked and never found anything when I was doing track days on my 5th gen. In the end I raised the rear end with a shock spacer (which helped) and then wore out a bunch of knee pucks.

    I agree Randy!

That said I'm 48 pushing 49 and there are some things I'm just too old for anymore. Things like spending all day in the mall and shopping for wall paper. :chaingun:

Lots of pressure this time of year to do such things with Christmas approaching and snow flakes falling all over the place.

I'm 60 and have 2 4th gens and go thru @ least 1 set of tires on each over the summer plus another set on my ZRX. I've found that I can get 2 rides out of my plastic weld repairs on my toe sliders , so I must be slowing down( used to go thru a set of toe sliders every ride)I still manage to ski @ least 60 days / winter when I'm not riding or flyfishing.Your only as OLD as you want to be. I do have blown disc in my cervical and lumbar spine, no peripheal vision on the left 2 bad knees and shoulders and 2 days ago I tore 3 tendons in my left elbow while putting a Subaru engine back in my nephews fiance's car.

^wild!!! Take it easy for gawds sake! :mech:

I found that a hot glue gun works well with repairing toe sliders. Would use it to glue the velcro back on. Cheers and happy/safe riding. 48 turning 49 in a few days.

Only old guys ride VFR's. They are not considered fast enough or sporty enough for the young'uns. They are all on R1's.

I have a bone plug between C5 and C6 and blew out 6 and 7 as well but no fusion there. My latest is a labral tear in my hip. Not sure how to fix that but I can still ride. No knee out on the left side though! Actually either side. I have to stay centered up. No biggy.
I'm 60 and break easier and heal slower. So what.

Of course they are not! When you are young, and probably untalented or skillful at riding, you want to impress the girls with a nice poser bike, such as a sport bike. i did. Got a Triumph Bonneville when I was a young guy,the R1 of it's day. Rarely rode it above 50 mph, but boy I looked and felt good.

When you get older and don't really care about impressing anybody you buy what you like to ride. The VFR750 does that for me. A great all around bike that does it all.

Oh, when I feel like being young again, I take my GSXR1000 out and go to Deals Gap, where I ride around 95% of the young guys, who are still in that posing stage, whereas I am old but skillful, and modestly I say, talented. Love my old mans VFR.

I'm 76 and have 2 Hondas in the garage. 2005 Interceptor and 2013 CB1100. Like both but the Interceptor gets ridden more. It just loves the mountain roads in NC. Been on 2 wheels since 1954, except for the 2 years the Air Force thought I'd like remote radar sites in Alaska and Iceland.
