Just picked up my new VFR1200F for Christmas. My wife and I were out in the car and I suggested we swing by the dealership to see what they had (I'd already taken one for a test ride). I promised to be 60 secs maximum. The demo was on sale. I pondered a while.........10 mins later she said "Just buy it". So I did. What a doll....what a bike.

I've gone from a 310KG 2003 BMW K1200GT to what I consider a much lighter bike. Wow, what a change. I loved the BMW with all its creature comforts, but I really love the lighter, more agile and more powerful Honda.

    Cheers Gents.

Wow, there is something you don't hear often about the 7th gen! Don't get me wrong, I love mine but many people comment on how big she is. I tend to agree with them. But she is like a plus size model, hot all the same!

Many people will immediately go for the ECU flash to remove the power restriction from 1st & 2nd gear. I have decided to not do it until I am more comfortable with the power of the 1200. I came from a CB750 to a VFR800 and the power was plenty for me! I didn't need the extra 70hp of the 1200, but I wanted the modern suspension and braking system that she offered. Until I am as comfortable on the 1200 as I was on the 800, I am going to hold off on the ECU flash.

If you are interested touring on the bike, you need to make your mind up on what luggage you want to use early. The OEM stuff is ridiculously expensive but wonderfully integrated. Givi stuff and similar are bigger and more affordable, but not as aesthetically pleasing.

Whatever you do, enjoy the bike!

Thanks all. The panniers arrive today and I'll get heated grips fitted for the winter at the first service (Australian winter = July). I'm still considering the wind deflectors to protect my hands in winter and a taller visor. We'll see. Off for a ride with the lads on 19 Dec. Cant wait.

A word of caution about the OEM wind deflectors. If you have any intention of using Helibars on this bike, I remember reading there is a clearance issue. You can still install them, but you may hit them when going full lock left or right.

    Helibars

Thanks. I hadn't considered the issue of helibars and I'm pretty sure I'll end up with some.
