Hi Everyone :smile-new: I've just brought a new VFR12 and was wondering what oil you run in your engines, Full Syn or Semi Syn ? and what brand ? I own a Blackbird which I run Semi Syn oil (Castrol)and in my VFR800 I run Full Syn (Castrol)

Hi Rhodesda! I purchased my VFR1200F in late November, 2013. I changed the engine oil and filter at 100 miles and again at 600 miles. I did these frequent oil changes as part of the engine run-in protocol that I follow. At these initial two oil/filter changes, I used Honda GN4 10w-30, a petroleum based oil. When I changed the oil/filter next at 2,000 miles, I changed to Honda GN4 10w-40, still a petroleum based oil. It was nearing summer and I knew the temperatures would be much warmer; therefore, the change from 10w-30 to 10w-40. The next change was at 4,000 miles. For this change, I switched to the Honda HP4 10w-40, which is a synthetic petroleum blend. From this point on, I will change the oil/filter at 3,000 mile intervals and will continue to use the Honda HP4 10w-40 synthetic petroleum blend. Hope this info is useful for you.

Have it lab tested so you know exactly when to change it.
