Unless the other side is ground off from wreck I think it looks pretty good as-is.

I too have just recently bought a 86' VF500F2F (and I also live in the UK).
This is the pile of dung I've bought, though to be fair, it's been well looked after apart from the cosmetics and is in much better condition than the one you've just bought.
Just before the owner sold it to me, he fitted a brand new FULL exhaust system!
The silencers are replicas made by Marving and look identical with their glorious black chrome. The 4 downpipes and collector box will be ceramic coated so they'll last for donkeys years!

There are a couple of standard colour schemes to choose from, one with a red seat and one with a black seat.
As you can see, mine has the hideous red seat scheme :distress:

    Here's the red seat scheme....

....and here's the much nicer black seat scheme....

I've already had the seat done in black and plan to also paint the forks black.
I do like the blue/white/red scheme, but hate the red forks and seat.
I'm thinking of keeping the same paint scheme but going down the CB1100RD route as that model had metallic paint and more up to date Honda wing decals too.

I will start a thread in the Mechanics Garage section next week when I fully strip it.

    All the best, Will
