Elsewhere in a different thread it was mentioned that it was possible to remove the instrument panel on a 4th Gen whilst leaving the top fairing in situ- could someone elaborate please?

I think its just as easy to remove the fairings. Remove both side fairings, 2 bolts, 3 1/4 turn and 2 more on the inside of the front wheel arch each side. Top fairing, remove mirrors and screen, 4 bolts and move carefully forward, put towel on the front mudguard and lower gently then remove headlight connectors, both indicator connectors and a connector that goes to the rev counter from the coil is sometimes fixed to the inner air tube, remove. total time about 10 mins.

Thanks for that, most legible description of that particular task I've seen. Probably best course of action anyway as it'll give me a chance to check for water damage/ingress in other areas while I'm at it.

well its easy to remove the 3 nuts that hold the assembly to the bracket. there are two multiplugs, one blue and one a sort of green, they have a locking tag that needs to be released down the long side, just have a good look first and you should work it out. I broke a few before I managed it though but it didnt matter as the brocken bit was on the loom and they are not good sellers.:smile-new:
