I am looking for a taller windscreen for touring purposes. I'm 6'2" and the wind hits me right in the face with the stock screen on my '01. I am leaning toward the zero gravity sport touring screen but wanted to get opinions/experiences before I buy anything.

I like my Zero Gravity Sport Touring screen. You will have just enough wind pressure for balance, and will be all-day comfortable if you wear ear plugs.

Before the ZGST, I tried adding Saeng's Wing-Tip (adjustable airfoil) to the stock screen. Didn't seem to make any difference regardless of the angle. I also tried Saeng's Micro-Swirl edging on the ZGST. It was supposed to raise the airflow, but did not seem to work either.

I don't get any helmet buffeting with the ZGST, but my girlfriend still complains about buffeting around her helmet. Does anyone have a screen that smooths the airflow for both rider and passenger?

I have the ZGST as well and agree with Florida's comments.

Installed an MRA Spoilerscreen and took a 200 mile trip with it this past weekend. Still getting "bug strike" on my shoulders, although less than with the stock screen. Haven't installed the included welting, it's pretty low profile stuff so I don't know that it would do much for changes in airflow. It's definitely not bad; I'm 6'5 and I don't know if things will get much better with a different screen unless I go to some large by tall touring style job.

Still getting the boom-boom-boom around the base of the helmet unless I suck up my shoulders like a turtle. The noise is more annoying that the feeling of wind.

Go with the Zero Gravity double bubble - you get a rise in the airflow with out the turbulence of the sport touring screen.

Have you tried both screens? How tall are you? I see a lot of advice but then see that the guy saying a screen works for him is 5 foot 9, which is miles away from where I'm at.

Let me know if you find a screen that works. I'm the same size and get the same thing, booming around the helmet. I switched to more of a racing helmet (Shark RSR) which helped some and I wear ear plugs which really helps. I don't want to go with anything taller than the stock screen because I don't like the way they look.

The noise is my biggest complaint. I don't feel like I'm getting tossed around really, it's fairly comfortable in that regard. The MRA Spoilerscreen is nicely made, feels heavy enough to last if something hits it (in moderation of course, if I hit a turkey with the screen I'm pretty sure it's toast), and did move the majority of the air up. But the bug splatter on the shoulders on my jacket after the ride this weekend tells me there's still air hitting me all over. I'm not sure what comes next, a different screen (not excited about that) or some Microswirll Edging (not holding too much hope on this being a magic fix), a Windjammer on the helmet (worried about heat build-up in an already warm lid), or something else.

The Shoei TZ-R I have now is a lot better than the Scorpion EXO-400 I had before in the buffeting department, but it's not a lot quieter as I had hoped. It's also really tight on my head, meaning that it's harder to install ear plugs and have them stay fully inserted after putting on the helmet. They also seem to creep out over time, so an hour later, at least one of them isn't really doing much for me anymore.

You might try a different style of ear plugs. I put mine in right before I put my helmet on and I've never had one creep out on me (as long as it was good to start with). I use the yellow foam ones. I've hear some people have better results with the soft plastic one's but I spent 15 years flying with the foamies so that’s what I'm comfortable with. I am considering a double bubble screen, I’ll let you know how it works out if I get one.

I just installed a Liminar lip on my 2002 VFR and what a difference. No wind on the chest and almost no helmet noise. It is just a add on the sticks to the original windshield.Check out the web site www.laminarlip.com.I ordered it on line and a week later it arrived ,Canada post.I had to remount it 2 times to get the right pitch.

went with a dark smoke www.puig.tv 2" taller with a slight hook deflects enough wind to stop helmet buffeting at high speeds. the puig imo looks better than stock and offers alot better wind protection also 6'2". still get wind noise

Thought I would chime in since I just tested my new Zero Gravity Dubble Bubble on my '03 last night. I can honestly say the screen made a big difference with this particular bike. The wind turbulence above 75 was pretty significant, the Bubble has really helped to control it.

I tried two different aftermarket screens on my old Blackbird but the stocker was better than either of them. Different bike, different ergonomics, different results.

    Hi,
I'm 5'11'' - admittedly I am a perpetual experimenter, I have been flipping between stock and the DB. The DB while less wind had a tick more turbulence and noise.

I have recenctly gone with 4th gen bars - they are about a inch lower and now suddenly the DB is eerily somewhat quiet with far less air coming across, I think the air hits the top of the helmut. Very nice in a sence. If its hot though, I may try the stocker again for some more airflow for some cooling, more for one day sorties. I think on a trip, it will be hands down the DB.

Fortunately I can change windshields in about 30 minutes so foolin around with these is ez.

Dont know what else to add but there is no one size fits all on this one. Everbodys ergos are different. Even with a wack job like me - sometimes one is better on some days and not gonna cut it on others.

    Hello Again FullCircle

Got my ZG Sport Touring windshield. Tried it and I don't like it. Poor fit quality compared to OEM and much thinner than OEM. I am returning mine.

Take a close look at the Givi windscreen (about 4.5 inches taller than stock).

Agreed that ZG uses a thinner material than stock and the front hooks dont seat in the fairing slots as well as the stocker. (5th gen) I'm not wild about that point either. But with the functionality I get I can live with it. Its something you only notice when you get up close and look at it.

I tryed a Givi Sport Tourer on my 4th gen, so a different senario, but I thought it looked goofy, and while it blocked the wind, the turbulence drove me nuts - I sold it.

    To each his own.....

You also have to keep in mind that overall height is not the issue, the inseam effects the height of the body, I am 6'2, my inseam is 31 inches. The effect is that my upper body is about about the same length as my brother's who is 6'6 with a 36 in inseam.

I've been extremely happy with my ZG Double Bubble. I'm 6'3" and it fixed the buffeting that was driving me crazy from the stock screen. I can't tell you if it's any better then the touring screens since I just can't bring myself to try one out. They're way too kooky looking.

Cheap way to buy direction from Zero Gravity: http://zgoutlet.com/
