Hi guys and gals and anything in-between

Today I picked up the cleanest 9 year old motorcycle I've seen in ages, a 2005 VFR800 ABS, to replace a recently departed '06 YZF600R (Plastic sure is expensive...)

    From the seller's Craigslist ad:

and a Sargent seat, all for $3600 plus tax and title fees. I think I robbed him but who am I to complain?

I only had a chance to ride for ~40 miles today since I've been going non-stop since early morning, but tomorrow is going to beautiful and I'm going to beat the hell out of some pavement.

I'm at ~50 miles after my first fill-up since it had half a tank when he dropped it off for me, and the fuel gauge is already showing down three bars. Either it's inaccurate, I spent too much time idling in stop and go traffic (I love cities! ... except all the other people), or need to keep it under 7k on the open highway a little better. Otherwise I am completely without buyer's remorse on this.

Going to have to get some sort of storage option though, I used to keep a ton of crap under the seat on my YZF600R and, well... you know.

To get the fuel gauge to read full you have really have to fill it to the base of the fuel filler neck. From there it'll drop off fuel in as little as a few miles. I think I managed 12 miles once on the first bar but then I probably had fuel to the base of the cap. Which is according the manual something you shouldn't do. I seem to do it every time. Gauge will read half on average somewhere between 90-100 miles. Not sure how your PC 3 will affect your overall range. Most maps richen the mixture up so your MPG's probably aren't that great. I usually get 200+ miles (no fuel mods) out of tank in mixed driving conditions. The last bar will start to flash with just under a gallon left. So if you didn't fill the tank all the way. Being down 3 bars after 50 miles with a PC 3 doesn't sound that unrealistic.

I did fill it to the top, and it showed full to begin with , I'll just have to keep an eye on it. I generally track my fuel stats via Fuelly.com anyhow so I'll get a handle on my range shortly.
