I have been making some progress so I thought I would give an update. I have rebuilt a pair of CBR954rr calipers. These calipers have two 30mm and two 32mm pistons per caliper for a total piston surface area of 6041mm^2 for both calipers. I disassembled, cleaned and installed new seals. Painted and reassembled with new stainless steel allen bolts. These are ready to install. There are no modifications to the calipers yet (when I attached to the VTR forks, I may need to do a little grinding and use some spacers to center them on the rotors - stay tuned)

Thanks MD - and good suggestion. I'll try to combine the writeup and pics into one thread - then delete the old ones.

I swapped over the VTR forks this morning. Will try to mount the front calipers tomorrow and take the measurements for ordering the brake lines.

On my assembly, I did a loose bolt up on the top mount of the VTR lower, and then swung down the caliper for fit check. If you look at the VTR leg, its a casting with a small taper angle. (called draft in foundry circles). I ground that so it was straight, maybe plus a bit more. Then little by little with a dremel tool, do the chalk spot mark and sneak up mm grind on the spot that hits. Grind it, test fit, grind it, test fit, chalk mark it, grind, test fit. Eventually it will line up.

Photo has a few seasons on it.........

Since your newest bike is a '97 and chances are you have never ridden a newish linked braked honda, if you ride one, then you will know. That is all I'm going into. Why do people climb a mountain? Cause they can.
