    Hi all,

I'm thinking of buying a full fairing kit for my vfr 2002 on ebay. Those things sold from China.

Is it hard to do this myself? Never done it. Is it a good idea to buy from China? Other the fact that sometimes the holes are a bit misplaced from what I found in the forum.

How about custom duties when shipped.. I presume I'll have to think of paying some custom duties?

My only suggestion would be to read thoroughly on this forum and others. While some guys have had luck with the Chinese fairings, my recollection is that many of those who did buy them wish they had not. But you never know!

Yup save your coins for the real stuff.

I bought a full set and wasn't very happy. In the end I sold it off on kijiji and bought all OEM.

    This is with China plastic,

And this is the same bike with OEM

    No comparison.

The visual differences are definitely obvious. How about the quality? I've got to believe it is worse, but by how much?

Well, the paint isn't the same obviously. The parts themselves are made of multiple pieces glued or welded together so structurally they aren't the same at all. The tabs are all glued/ welded to the back side as opposed to the OEM where they are molded as one unit. The edges are rough and the holes don't align so you need to drill them out while dragging the holes to the proper location. I complained bitterly and sent tons of pictures to the seller showing them how shitty the parts were and they sent me 50% of my money back. So what I got was a really cheap suit which I needed to cover my bare bones till I could locate some OEM parts. It did the job and most people (not VFR people) never noticed.

Thanks for the details. OEM is expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for.
