    1: yes
2: I made plugs from the 2 part modelling foam/putty, have a set of earbuds buried in the same stuff. Recently it's been my bose ear buds if I go with music.
3: I have sensitive hearing, so if my ride is longer than 5 min, I wear ear protection. Cuts down on a lot of pain I tend to get in my neck and behind my ear if I don't.
    4: nah, not at all!

    1. Yes.
    2. Cheap foamies from Target that I roll up and shove in.
    3. I try to do it every time but forget on occasion and immediately regret it as soon as I hit the highway.
    4. I predict consistent answers to this question.

    1. Course
    2. Some sorta shooting ear plugs from Wal-Mart
    3. 99% of the time, unless it's a quick trip that only reaches 50mph or so max
    4. No, but it'd probably get your ass kicked if your wore that thing around parts of Phoenix. Personally I'd just record it, laugh at you and post it on YouTube.

I voted " on occasion " but really its every tour or longer city rides that includes Freeway speeds.

Mostly use either tapered disposables eg moldex or if listening to music through my Zumo then inear headphones either my Sennheiser or the standby Sonys that live in my Ventura bag.

Never rode with ear protection. Tried a couple of times and it just didn't work out. My helmets though are pretty quite and for the most part I'm not bothered and can hear just about everything.

As for the last question on the poll. All I have to say is: I met the dude and you've got to kidding!! Right?

I'm not sure if this counts, but I wear earbuds with radiodrive running on my phone so I can listen to some metal and kill most of the wind noise.

    Longer rides I do.
Tried them at the track a few times but felt disconnected not being able to hear bikes around me as well.

Custom molded silicone plugs I paid for to assure I have some hearing. You can still hear some, just not everything.

I also use them for shooting with muffs over them.

    Yes.
Foam type on my left ear, custom silicone on the right.
Never leave the house without them or my American Express card.
The jury is still out on that one.

    What about helmets?

If you are looking for the answer to sound protectors inserted in the ears, I think the question should be phrased as "Do you wear ear protection other than a helmet?" as a helmet is ear protection as well. Some of us wear helmets, some of us don't. Some of us strongly considered the overall sound rating of the helmet in the purchase, and one helmet may be noticably quieter than another helmet. "hearing is overrated" - I completely disagree with this, but I do not use dedicated sound protection. What to vote?

I would be curious if anyone wears no helmet but does use ear protection.

I do not wear ear protection on my bike. I do when using yard equipment and when playing drums. I am hyper-sensitive to such noises, but with the helmet, and being in front of the exhaust, the motorcycle sound that does get through is just enough for me to decipher how the bike responds to me, and is not enough noise to bother me.
