    Hello All
Just checking in and saying "hello". We are new to the VFR world as of yesterday. We bought a 2002 VFR for my wife to use as a touring mount. It has the Hondaline bags and Helibars as well as Oxford heated grips. Also has Staintune cans that make wonderful music. We already have a bunch of other bikes in our stable and are planning to ride across Canada next summer and hopefully the VFR will be the up to the task! I will be riding a BMW R1100S similarly set up with factory bags, high bars etc. We will be keeping our first loves though, we currently have matching Ducati 900 SS's and will use these for commuting and short day/weekend trips. Also filling the shop is a 86 NS 400R and two 82 Gpz 550's.

Hi Dave and welcome to the MadHouse:welcome:

You will quickly discover the folks on this forum really do like to see pictures, so if you don't want folks raggin on you, upload a photo or two of the new bike asap. (It's easy just click reply - click on the "Insert Image" icon and follow the prompts to select and upload a picture from your computer.)

You may want to update your forum profile (Forum Actions + Edit profile) to include the specs of your VFR and a rough location city/state is fine - that way the information will appear automatically alongside your posts and if you need help you just may find someone lives nearby and is willing to swing by and advise especially if you have a well stocked beer fridge :drink:.

There are a lot of forum members up in Canada and you will find quite a lot of them enjoy some really long haul trips. If you are up for a serious road trip, or just want to share a brew with some of the characters on here, then watch out for an informal annual migration of VFRs in May on memorial day (check out Reggie's Roadhouse). With touring in mind, its also worth checking out relevant sub-forums as over the years we have found and fixed a fair few issues with these bikes. Mechanically they seem bullet proof but can suffer electrical gremlins - especially dead RR's in hot weather.

    Take care

Welcome abaoard, and yes we would love to see pics of all your bikes. Just one thing, isn't commuting a bit below the 900 SS's, I would use the Gpz's instead.

Last I heard, Canada is pretty big. Sounds like quite the adventure! Welcome to the forum. Has anyone suggested that you post pictures yet?

I'll post pics later, I still need to take some of the VFR and upload them to my computer. The Gpz's have collector plates on them so as such they can only be used for "pleasure use", no to and from work ever. We could be fined and our insurance would be void. The up side to that is our insurance is VERY cheap having collector plates.

And as promised, here is the VFR. Unfortunately no sound bites of the NS are available. It is put away for winter already and really who would want to hear it, it has to be one of the worst sounding bikes ever made. Think either a popcorn popper on steroids or a bunch of rabid squirrels fighting over a nut in a tin can on a metal roof. My Duc has carbon Staintune cans and of course the VFR has stainless Staintunes, both sound great. The Duc is a bit loud though :)
