After many years of admiring the honda v4 line, I GOT ONE!!!! A 2000 with 48k, every piece of skin cracked or trashed, the loosest chain Ive ever seen, pads shot, center smoked back, and backwards mismatch front tires, and about 10lbs of grime. Runs n shifts great, and cost me $900.00. I'm so FRICKING HAPPY! I cant tell you how many times I saw 800 owners on sport tour rides looking all comfy while I was invariably on a sport bike As spread out as I could get it suffering from thigh cramps and buzzing butt. So, first in line is a chinese set of skins. Has anybody used them? Some of the ebay co.s have what look like good reviews but Paint match to my yellow tank (the only good part on the body) is a concern. The best part of the cheap skins is they come with a cheapo windshield, and the trim pieces for the cluster area and both of those I need. Second is how to cost effectively go to a high pipe conversion from the shorty obnoxious (but cool sounding) ebay pos it came with. I dont see o2 sensors anywhere, nor a cat that I thought the 2000 came with. THIS IS GONNA BE FUN!!!!

I bought a set of plastics from suretribe.com for my 07 R1 and was very pleased with how they turned out.

Thats the skin I was looking at. But arent the 00s supposed to have o2 sensors n cats? Im gonna have to do some pic searching. Im thinking it may have the earlier exhaust on it. A guy rolled up to the pawn shop as I was working them on the price and said he had owned it for a couple years and sold it to the guy that pawned it. There was a different exhaust when he had it but thought it was a slip on.

    Welcome to the world!!!

Yes a 2000 had cats and o2's. The previous owner may have installed a '98 exhaust system...several guys on have have done it.

    Welcome aboard.

As Y2K viffer said, yes, the 2000's had cats and 02 sensors. The 98-99 did not, and its a direct fit from 98-99 for the 2000. The 98-99 were also about 2-3 mm bigger in diameter.

If you have all your plastics off, look on the left side of the bike for the wires that would have plugged into the 02 sensors. There should either be 02 eliminators, or 330 Ohm resistors installed.
