Being comfortable/ familiar with your fellow riders is the key. Although there was 50+ riders out there, I rode with my usual group and we have all ridden together on multiple occasions now. I typically ride in the middle of the group or will bring up the rear but we do pass each other when safe and most importantly, we leave our ego's behind. Our lead rider yesterday was in his 60s and he has been riding longer than I have been walking; he knows the area and we leave no one behind. I didn't even mind getting soaked on the ride home

    Ride Red!

Mostly solo, or with my neighbor :) My ride to the left, my neighbor's to the right.

Not sure I'd want to ride with 50 plus folks~

I usually ride with fellow viffer owners here in VA; there are about 8 within an hour to hour & a half drive from me. The most we've had so far on one ride is 6, but usually it's 2-4. My ride is my only transportation right now so I ride solo a LOT, also.

I have done a few group rides, sadly it was mostly kids in their early 20s running wheelies through the middle of the group. I had 2 friends I liked to roll with, one moved, the other took his bike apart and has spent the last 2 years "working on it". So I ride alone or with my wife. I just ride my ride and don't have to worry about other people. Most of the young ones tend to ride a lot more aggressively than I do.

Any rides with SOW are both group and solo rides.

was riding with a group i started. mostly older guys. (60s plus) the competition got dangerous so broke all ties with them. now i ride with my son and a friend or solo. through the grapevine i hear bits about the old group destroying another motorcycle and broken body parts. these were older men bragging and generally having pissin contests about horsepower, lean angles and riding abilities.

I think it was Dick Mann that said (and I agree) that "racing on the street is just stupid." There are too many variables beyond your control plus, what do you have to gain, bragging rights? I am a big believer in riding your own ride at your own pace. In my life I have been laughably slow compared to the fast company I was in and dangerously fast for the new rider that was trying to ride with me.

Speaking of riding solo, After trying to interest anyone in going to Barber with me, I'll will be going it alone. If anyone happens to be there just look for the 5t Gen Y2K with a fat guy. Stop me and say "hi!"

I ride solo...always have and probably always will...
Too many fair weather riders here that keep their bikes safe and dry in the garage when I'm out living and learning...always learning...

Solo. Can't find decent riders in my area. Rode once this season with an acquaintance & his friends (2) & all they did was ride (too) fast for my taste & abilities...
