Soooo....who else nominates SOW as the guinea pig test rider?

"It is finally time for the Kawasaki Ninja H2R to become officially official. No more teaser videos with weird chirps, no more fake news stories for pageviews, no more leaked photos (x2)…now we finally get to see what all the hype is about with this hyperbike.
Though now that the time is here, it is hard to say something new about the 2015 Kawasaki Ninja H2R that hasn’t already been said. Rebirthing a name that is synonymous with the original superbike war between the Japanese manufactures, Kawasaki has reinstated an old game, and made a bold first move.
At the heart of the new Ninja H2R is a supercharged 998cc inline-four engine which produces 300hp horsepower. You did not read that figure incorrectly. Wrapped around it is a fetching steel-tube trellis frame"

Is it just me, or does that trellis frame look woefully inadequate for that heathen? Other than that, that engine looks purdy.... :vanity:

SOW won't get very far. Any amount of HP doesn't get very far lying on its side! ;)

Imagine the insurance on that thing. It can't be real, 150 hp is too much for the street, 195 hp is just plain stupid, 300HP? Comical. Its like that Ghost Rider Guy with the turbo busa' wheelies at 150 to 200 mph. The new widow maker.

Track only. SOW would've needed new high heels anyways.

It'll need an emergency engine stop button if the ecu goes toyota whacko ... if you can manage to reach for it under full unintended acceleration!

I like it! Cut away shot of motor on a poster would be like hanging porn/art. :loco: F-SOW. Gona get that as a custom license tag if I ever get this bike, plus there is no insurance down here.

The original H2's frame was woefully inadequate, as anyone who was around back then and rode one would attest to (it was outright scary), soooo, if they are keeping it true to name, it makes sense.
I've seen this going around for a few days now, but I'm a bit skeptical.
There are no blinkers, no mirrors, it doesn't have a catalytic converter, or a proper muffler.
It's got slicks, but supercharged 1000's aren't allowed in any form of racing.
Maybe a bike show special, or a "this is what we can make, but this is what you'll get" deal.
And that rear tyre size, doesn't look like the size you would use to put down 300hp.

The track only version makes the claimed 300hp, so insurance won't be an issue (though my insurance charges by displacement only, so this would be cheaper than a Honda Blackbird). I read somewhere that the road going version will make around 225hp, but that could just be conjecture.

Yeah, it is not designed to ever (legally) see a public road is what Kawi is saying....however, like is mentioned below, perhaps a detuned version is in the works, or maybe Kawi is interested in a "gene pool cleanse" as the Lord knows that would happen if this beast ever hit the street. The equivalent of sticking your wanker in a light socket. This is probably mostly a publicity stunt to garner attention back to the green machine (Kawi).

    More online commentary:

"At the 2014 Intermot motorcycle trade show on September 30, 2014, Kawasaki announced that a race-only Ninja H2R model would be produced in addition to the street-legal, lower power, Ninja H2 which would be fully revealed at the EICMA trade show in November.[16][2]

Kawasaki made public some details about the Kawasaki H2's engine at Intermot. It was confirmed to be a 998 cc inline-four engine with a supercharger, producing 300 horsepower (220 kW) in the H2R racetrack-only variant, still by far the highest rated engine ever for any factory production motorcycle[17][18][16]—50% more than its nearest competitor, the BMW S1000RR.[2] For comparison this is 4.5 times the power of the Continental A-65 engine in the Piper J-3 Cub aircraft.[19]

Cycle World's Kevin Cameron calculated that with the right gearing, the H2R's engine power could theoretically overcome aerodynamic drag up to 250–260 miles per hour (400–420 km/h).[1] In the same analysis he determined that the H2R has a supercharger driven by a series of gears and shafts connecting the flywheel to a planetary drive, finally spinning a dog-shifted two-speed shaft attached to the impeller. He also said it could be expected to have electronic aids including traction control, engine braking control, and launch control
    "

    And another:

The inclusion of a supercharger was explained in a Kawasaki press release:

"While a large-displacement engine could easily provide a high engine output, to ensure a lightweight, compact overall package a compact engine was also desired. Using a supercharged engine-essentially enabling a high-performance engine to be downsized-allowed both of these engine design requirements to be met: maximum power output has been targeted at 300 PS, and the engine size of the 998 cm3 In-Line Four is on par with other supersport litre-class power units."

Seen the invoice pricing for the 300HP version. It is not road licensed and won't be legally in any of the 50 states. Invoice price is $60k, saw it this morning. I think MSRP will be $65k. The regular road version will be $29,995.

Took a spin on one of those H2's when they first hit the US Market. The bikes came in at the Port of Houston and were according to rumors 80+ Horsepower. They were also really pipey. The whole running gear was inadequate. Damn fast!! Modified versions are still being raced in vintage class. Many with Trackmaster frames mucho better brakes, tires ect.

I wonder who is going to be the first "fast guy" to say the 225 HP version is anemic..
