For you guys with 2002-2009 VFR800s without drive line upgrades, what rpm are you turning at 60mph? Mine turns right about 4,000rpms. I'm thinking this might be high and that maybe my bike has a sprocket upgrade. I would like to know before I buy new chain and sprockets. Thanks for the help guys.

Stock sprocket sizes should be 16 front 43 rear.

I've got a '99, but if anything, 4,000 rpm at 60 sounds low not high.

Just got back from a ride (stock 07, Gen 6). 4K at 60 mph, right on the money.

I can confirm also, @ 70mph (National speed limit in the UK) it's just over 4.5k

Based on gearing calculations, using a standard 180/55 tire diameter of 24.9" and with std. 16F/43R sprockets, a gen 6 at 4000 RPM will be going 58.9 mph. So at 60 mph your RPM will be 4075.
A gen 5 is geared differently and has 17F/43R sprockets. A gen 5 at 4000 RPM will be going 58.3 mph by calculation.

Also for reference, a gen 6 with a deeper 45 tooth rear sprocket will be going 56.3 mph at 4000 RPM.

    I hope this helps.
