Did my introduction page and mentioned how I have lots of questions, well here is my first, right now I have the stock Guage cluster on my beat up vfr800fi (5th gen) and I'm trying to replace with something smaller and better looking for a "streetfighter"/ modern cafe racer but I don't know where to start, called up bills cycle salvage to see if they have a speedo/ tach, he asked what type of drive it had (assuming it was cable driven) but Im not sure if it's cable or electric, or the drive, so if a veteran could enlighten me, I'd be forever grateful

Speedo and odo are electric and readings are taken from a sensor on the countershaft cover that sits over the nut on the countershaft sprocket. Unless you're desperate for gauges, get a bicycle computer and run it off the front wheel. You can get speedometer, odometer, trip meter, day trip, average speed, max speed, and time all in one small package. And all for about $20.

Decided to go with a gps unit like garmin, or something similar, mount it up, most of them tell speed, and under $50 on ebay, does anyone see any problems with my
    Idea?

It will work just fine, but make sure you get one that is waterproof. And check out the display for location of speedometer readout.
