    Hi,

Have a majorly annoying problem with my Viffer. I believe it is the clutch causing it.

The bike starts fine, letting it warm up abit, no problems. Put the stand up and drop it into first and the bike stalls.

Hold the clutch in, keeping it in first, start the bike and it lurches forward like an angry horse. The engine does kick in and stalls again. I try and again and let the bike lurch forward for at least a few meters and the engine finally kicks in and i'm in gear.

Rider off and the shifting gears is really sticky and sometimes there's too much resistance to actually shift.

After 10mins or so of riding shifitng seems fine. I can even turn the bike off and start it again with no problems getting into first gear. It only happens when the bike has been sitting for a few hours.

Oil level and clutch fluid seem fine. Oil is 6 months old, clutch fluid only a few months.

Push rod has been inspected and looks ok.

Any ideas? Thanks, i'm at a loss!!

So I'm thinking you have air in the clutch hydraulic system and you need to bleed it... This is the optimistic solution.

It's pretty obvious the clutch is not working properly. My bet would be that the clutch slave cylinder is not sealing completely and thus isn't moving the push rod far enough to separate the clutch plates. After you've run the bike and it's warm the slave cylinder starts sealing again and your clutch works like it's supposed to. That's where I'd start looking.

How long have you owned the bike? Did this just start out of the blue? Has it fallen over recently? How many miles on it?

did this start after the fluid change? just making sure you didn't change it to try and alleviate the Start of these symptoms, otherwise it Could be something gummed up by bad fluid in the base of the resevoir, or the lines/after levers ect.

have you noticed the hydraulic fluid levels changing/lowering?
