    Hey Guys,

Got my LSL handlebar conversion kit in today and I started installing it in-between homework with the kids tonight.

    Couple of question....

First one; These bars are about 2" wider on each side. (or about 4" wider overall).
Are you guys leaving them wide or cutting them down to about the same width as stock?

Second question; The detent thingy on the throttle side that keeps the throttle from spinning on the stock bar. Are you guys drilling the bar for it or just removing it? If the throttle will stay in place with out twisting then I would rather remove it than drill a hole in the bar.

    Thanks ahead of time!

You must drill for the detent or the throttle will spin.

I would also not cut down the bar. The extra width is very welcome to those with wide shoulders and it also reduces steering input effort.

I just completed my Lsl conversion. You need Barnett throttle cables that are 4 inches longer than stock.I used a 1999 ZRX 1100 bar on my 1994 VFR because I wanted my bar end cruise control. The detent is very difficult to place in right position but it is worth the time for safety sake. You can grind the throttle peg and then add friction tape to bar and it will prevent bar from rotating, the purists will cry.I will try to get a picture of my bike on site soon so you can see mine.if you have any questions I would be glad to help. The bike goes over the bumps with no pressure whatsoever on my wrists.I also made a batmobile windscreen from Home Depot where no wind is in my face at speeds over 100,just silence. The aluminum bar that comes in the kit is too wide and the ends must be purchased also. The Kawi bars have th

The Kawi bars have the threads welded in the ends the same as stock. When you drill the bars if you do drill you do not need to go all the way thru the bar.A shallow divot works preferable with square shoulders

I think I will leave them full width for now and give them a try like that first. Hopefully I will have time to finish them up this weekend.

Why would you want bars that are 4 inches wider than stock without the bar ends.If you have bought the bar ends already then mock all cables and throttle lines before you drill the detent. My steel bars from the Kawi ZRX 1100 are stock width and a much more comfortable bend.I've had both on mine but again my bike is a 94.Ergonomics are a very personal thing so take your time and have fun.The hard work will pay big dividends.

Well one thing I like about the wider bars is I grew up on dirt bikes and every time I sit on a street bike that has a bar that feels a little like a dirt set up, I always seem to want to ride it. In other words, I like that feel.

Like you said though, I will take my time and play with moving things around until I get what feels right to me. When I get it done, I will do a little write up and some pictures.

Good Luck.Another nice situation is the number of bikes which have stock 7/8 bars.Drop by the Honda delaer and take a look at the new bikes.I purchased some cable stays from a dirt bike to make my front brake line swap look factory. It just takes patience and then a little more patience.Have fun.

Ive read your posts going back to Heli vs whatever.Take my advice about replacing those bars that came in the kit they are bent crappy.I have had all styles of bar extenders going back 40 years.I understand what you want and while the kit bar is OK its better to do it right the first time.I get a digital cam and send you a photo,my bike is a VFR Goldwing.
