    Hi Guys,

I just posted the sorry state of my VFR over on the 'Intros' with a few pics. The bike is a 4th gen, 97 bike which has had some hard winter use and some neglect.

I'm pretty much done with the hard work, chain and sprockets, full service, inc all fluids, new tyre, stripped brakes, new silencer, new RH upper panel, and finally stripped, cleaned and greased hub. I just gotta include the photos of the hub - you could grow potatoes in what I dug out!

I just have a couple of niggles left. First off, the front centre lower oval shaped bit of the fairing is held on to the other panels with a wacky collection of M6 coach bolts and nuts and bolts. I'd like to go back to OEM fixings, I think they should be cross head screws? What do these screw in to and how can I fix the threaded (?) holes?

Second is the pilot/parking light. This has a connector just hanging in the breeze and I can't see where to connect it? There is a bit of aftermarket splicing on the left hand side near the coil, would it have originally clipped home somewhere here?

    Thanks for the help.

    Cheers

Dunno how much help I can offer, but as to the nuts and bolts for fairing parts, I'd suggest you find an on-line dealer who has a parts-fiche as part of their site, which you can figure out the parts (and parts numbers) - then you have something to go on with your local Honda parts guy (if you don't want to order on-line) to get what you need. An example site: < www. ronniesmailorder.com >.

Your description of a "pilot/parking light" isn't specific enough for me (and perhaps others - why no response to your inquiry!) to know what light you're referring to -- try again! :)

Though I can't say for certainty, when it comes to attaching the middle piece of fairing you mentioned I think the pieces you need are parts 12 and 13 on the parts list in the attached link. The link is to a company in the US called Partzilla and they sell OEM parts for the VFR and many others. The part numbers on the list are the same part numbers you would use if you ordered the parts direct from Honda.

    http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Honda/Motorcycle/1997/VFR750F+A/LOWER+COWL+94-97/parts.html

The "U" shaped black plastic piece that fits between the side cowls and in behind the front wheel uses 4 of the quarter turn fasteners that lock in to clamps attached to the middle cowl pieces. The middle lower cowl pieces themselves are attached to the lower black plastic cowl belly pan pieces with 3 of the quarter turn fasteners per side.

I can take a photo of the pieces you need if you like. My wife's 96 VFR is partially apart in the garage, after doing some regular maintenance.

As Moose Lips mentions, in regards to the loose pilot/parking light wire, there are some minor differences between the North American and UK VFR's so a picture of the area in question would be very helpful.

    Hi Guys,

A belated thank you for your responses! I ordered some of the correct 'quarter turn' fasteners in stainless from an online shop and it is all as it should be now - no more big rusty coach bolts!
The pilot light wire I found when I took the front fairing off and just plugged it in. Unfortunately the bike had been dropped and the RHS upper fairing panel replaced with a non colour matched ite,. PO had then sprayed the whole front orange with a rattle can; what a mess. I've now fitted a colour matched replacement panel and manahed to remove the rattle can paint, T-Cut and polish the poriginal so it all looks OK now - although I am struggling to get good panel fit. Ho hum....

    Cheers
