    Hey all,

I'm looking at moving from my 2004 Honda ST1300 to a VFR 1200. At issue will be the bar, pegs, and seating. I'm 6 foot tall and had a fusion of my L5 and S1 vertebrae in May of 2013. The surgery was successful but the recovery challenging. Finally ready to ride again. My ST has 1" riser for the bars and the seat has been Spencerized (best $100 I ever spent) and is still the stock height. No mods to the pegs. That set up fits me perfectly. I have sat on a stock VFR 1200 and know that won't work. I've seen VFR's with Heli bars and other setups but haven't been able to sit on the bikes. Hoping someone is in my area with those mods so I can just see if it would work for me. Not looking for free rides or anything like that. Regards!

Hey Steve, I am in almost the same position, currently on an 04 ST1300, which I still love. Some back problems led me to pull the pin and grab a great deal on an 07, which I just couldn't pass up. My decision was driven by the huge drop in weight. Ergonomics are different matter. After driving the bike 1000 miles home, I quickly realized the massive difference. Even after adding helibars and custom seat, the position on the vfr has much more forward lean. I came across this web site http://cycle-ergo.com which may help you compare your ST to the VFR1200. You might also miss the range of the ST. I looked at the 1200 as well and the tank is quite small. Sorry for running on. Just my two cents.

Thanks Bruce. I appreciate your feedback. I've spent some time on a friend's 97 VFR and it is different. I'd probably keep the ST - just want to add something a little different at huge discounts.
