1999 vfr800 indicator dash light problem

Hi, got a 1999 800, recently it has developed a fault with the indicator lights on the dash, when head light is turned off all is well, but when headlight is on and you indicate right the left indicator light and main beam light on the dash flash alternately, and vice versa when indicating left the right indicator light and main beam dash lights flash. All lights work as they should but its just the dash lights that seem to be misbehaving!

I have the same problem! Supposed to be a grounding problem and something to do with an orange box, its all magic to me though so I just learnt to live with it

 

doesnt bother me that much as I know all lights work fine, but the mot is out, so I'm guessing it's an mot fail if the dash lights are not corresponding with the actual indicators?

 

Probably, we don`t have MOT`s on the isle of man, thats why I ignore it lol

 

I don't know guys, but "getting used to it" doesn't seem to be the best way. There's lots of free stuff you can do - check all your wire connections up front. Check your battery connections. Clean the switches. And you can also try doing The Drill, as referenced in this link below. Specifically post #9.
