    Hey everyone,

Thought I would take the opportunity to say hi and intro myself. I am Kev, I live in Australia, in a little town just outside of Canberra. I am about to become the very proud owner for an 8th Gen 2014 VFR800F in Red. I think the new bike in white looks awesome, unfortunately it is not a colour option for those of us down under. I have just upgraded from a 2013 CBR500RA.

My bike arrived at the dealer today, so I get to pick her up on Friday.... I can not think of a single better reason to finish work early on Friday than picking up a brand new bike and putting some k's on that baby. Accessories wise, I am keeping it pretty basic (for now), have gone Bar Risers (I need to slight less fwd riding position - broken back from been a paratrooper in former life), rear carrier bracket and 45L Top Box. For some strange reason, the smaller genuine top box was significantly more expensive that the larger one, so it just made sense to get the bigger one.

Longer term, I want to get the panniers, but alas, the budget does not yet allow for that.

My riding history.... grew up on dirt bikes and have ridden on dirt most of my life. I never got around to getting my bike licence until last year (hence the CBR500RA being my last bike). My licence was recently upgraded to unrestricted, the first port of call was to TEST RIDE !!!

I can't wait to pick up my baby in about 36 hours, I am looking forward to getting to know her and having a long and fun relationship. I have a day ride (about 500km or so) planned for Saturday which is being followed up by a ride to Adelaide next month... for those non-Australian, the Canberra / Adelaide ride is about 2500 km return trip. Planning is not yet finalised (I am going with others) but I think hat will be done over 4 days or so.

Catch ya on the forum or the road some time.

    Budorat (aka Kev).

Kev see that Aussie flag in your avitar, talk is that if Scotts vote yes today to split from Great Britan and become independant then the Union Jack has to be removed from the flags of former Commonwealth countries. Would that throw the cat amongst a few pidgeons

    Hi Kev,

Welcome. There are a few VFR riders in Canberra and surrounds. Keep your eye open for Trevor (Canberra) and the other eye for AB who lives close to you around Sutton way

Welcome and congrats! So, I looked up the time difference and at least from San Diego to Canberra, there's a 17 hour difference. If counting on my fingers is right, that means it's already Friday for you! Just past 1am. You're probably sound asleep, dreaming of the beautiful V4 growl you'll be experiencing with your new bike. Enjoy!

Edit: Yes, I have 17 fingers.

I think you were using your toes. So wash your hands. You're getting toe jam all over the place.

Welcome to the World Kev. YOu simply have to post up pix of that beaut when you take delivery. I understand your excitement. When I bought mine, still in the crate, the salesman road it home and parked it in my garage for me. I didn't even have a learners permit for it. Matter of fact, I had never ridden a motorcycle up to this point.

Sorry to hear about your back. I have been living with a back injury since 1978 but the injury was nowhere near as severe as yours.
