Any of you third or fourth gen owners running the Daugherty suspension on the front or rear? I see he has a CBR929 upgrade for the rear that looks awesome! I just got the bike up and running not long ago and I'm new to the VFR. Clock has 24K on it. Suspension feels a little rough on front and back to me. I have not adjusted on the rear shock yet myself, but I have a feeling it may be toast. Thanks for any feedback!

I have the front and back treatment. He will make them to your riding style, so I told him full on sport bike with linear spring rates. Its definitely firmer, and way better for twisty work. An investment if you like to sport hard, or just want a more compliant ride for your weight.

I recently purchased a Gen4 VFR as well and thought the rear shock was toast. However, turned out someone had adjusted it improperly. Just for a baseline, set the suspension back to factory settings and see how it goes.

Stock setting for fork preload(only adjustment available): 3rd ring down from the top. It's adjusted via the large flat blade screwdriver slot. If unsure, fully tighten it clockwise (until it bottoms) and starting going counter-clockwise until your see the 3rd graduation.

The rear has two adjustments: Preload and rebound damping.

Preload - On the left hand side(clutch side), there's a small cutout on the frame above the suspension pivot point. That cutout allows an 8mm socket to pass through and adjust the preload, it's pretty straight forward once you have a good look in there. Area may require a bit of a de-grease to see it. There's markings for soft, standard(STD) and hard. Turn as required and set to STD.

Rebound - Near the bottom of the shock, there's a small slotted screw to adjust rebound. Turn the screw clockwise until it stops(take note of the dimple on the screw and mark the adjacent area to use as a reference point). Make one revolution counter-clockwise and that is the stock setting.

Go for a few rides and see how it behaves. If need be, adjust preload so the sag suits your weight. Good luck!

Thanks! I did adjust the front as you said. It was cranked all the way down to the hard setting. It actually gave instructions in the owners manual that actually came with the bike. Will give the rear a whirl and let you know how it turns out. Thanks for all the advice!

I can vouch for Jamie's work. I've used his stuff on both my V65 Sabre and my SuperHawk and wouldn't hesitate to send him more money. He's very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. If you order something from him, you'll be happy.

VFR is not known for having great suspension and is the first place you should look when looking to increase performance
