Finally got things sorted enough to feel safe to ride it farther than I can push it. Three sunny days in a row in the PNW. Been taking an extra hour riding home from work. Some nice twisty roads out here in Snohomish county. It's like throttle therapy.

This is the largest/heaviest bike I've ridden and I'm really starting to like it. If I enter a corner at an adult entry speed, I have to roll it on to get the thing upright again. I still suck (always have) at cornering but I figure it can only get better with time.

The only drawback is riding it up my washed out 1400' gravel driveway. I almost bit it when I forgot to turn the gas on before leaving the house in the morning. I need to practice that without looking.

Just ordered a new face shield for the RF 200 and it's time to start looking for an insulated winter suit.

    Rob,
    51 and getting younger

I finally got mine running right 3 days ago and have been having a blast with it. Being off a bike for 24 years I've screwed up some shifts and gotten into the corners a little hot but nothing that can't be fixed with a little more riding. Remember to have fun and enjoy the ride.

It's nice to know there are other old farts out there.
And at least one that's learning how to ride again like me.

    Cheers

RobVG, glad you're back among the living! Sounds like you're on your way. after 15 yrs of riding, I had to take a 7 year hiatus from bikes due to life/economics, etc. Worst withdrawl ever and then after finally getting back on a bike it felt so un-nerving. But didn't take long to get my teeth back. Have fun and like FJ12 said, it does keep getting better and better!

Yeah REEK, like you guys said, it keeps getting better and better. Cornering is getting more consistent and I'm starting to remember to cancel the turn signals. 50 mph doesn't feel like 80 anymore.

After a long day at work today, I started it, got on, and was ready to go and it died. WTF!. Pushed it back into the shop, looked it over and noticed I didn't turn the gas on. It's like being a noob all over again...

LOL Saturday night I was coming home and all of a sudden the bike started to buck and fart........ "AH crap",I thought I got the carbs set so now what could be wrong....... Came to a stop and tried to restart the bike, all it did was crank over and sputter. wiggled the bike back and forth and the bike started for a sec then died. "Damn it I'm out of gas, time to switch it to reserve".....Well for F sakes it already was on reserve......... Phoned a friend and started pushing the bike towards home. He picked me up 10 minutes later and I got the Jerry can of gas for the lawnmower. Went back to the bike put in the gas and rode home......Funny thing was I did fill the tank 2 months ago but with all the time I ran it in the shop trying to get the original carbs to work and the amount it was flooding I guess I drained the tank and didn't even think to refill it.

Can I join this club? Rode from 20-42, then after my second child decided to play it safe, so I sold the bike. 42K miles on my last one. Kids are out of the house, as is the ex so I bought a bike a few months ago. 22 years with no bike. I am no longer bullet proof as I was as a young man, how did that happen? :) Was a little wobbly at first, and my hands still hurt a little after a bit, but it is getting better. The corners are getting easier with time. At 63 it is good to be back in the saddle.
