Ok... I've been trying to remove my front fairing and I'm having a devil of a time trying to get this thing off. I have removed all the trim clips, mirrors and windshield. I watched a YouTube video on how to do it. I'm trying to remove the center dash, that is supposed to be held by grommets. I've applied serious pressure on it but I'm afraid it may break.
What am I doing wrong? This is frustrating!

Do you have the service manual or a Hanes manual for your bike. I recall the front fairing being difficult when I took mine off a few years ago. Yes there are pins that fit into grometts that holds everything in place. If you don't have the manuals I should be able to help you out that way later today. Just not now.

I have had mine off many times, first time grommets are probably stuck, after removing two bottom Honda clips, just rock back and forth to loosen. Put some Vaseline or assembly grease on grommets for easier assembly and removal.

I watched video, however, I always removed side fairings and the two small panels first. Hard enough to pull off without having to deal with clips to side fairings and panels. Plus gives you more room to work, only a few more minutes of work and you don't have to pry the fairing to separate.

Once you have those off and then remove dash, it is relatively easy.

Put a towel or mat on top of your front fender to avoid scratching it. As you remove fairing, you will have one more task, to undo connector for ambient air temp sensor (dead center under nose). You might have to rest fairing on front fender to use two hands to undo connector, unless you have someone to hold it. I got so frustrated at the short wire, I added 4" to it to make it easier.

Now you said remove "two small side panels". Is that the panels that cover each end of the center dash? If so, where and how do you release them. I looked at the service manual and could not see where it's connected.
Thanks I really appreciate your help.

Do i need to remove the side panels shown in the last 2 pics? I can't see where they're connected but they are on pretty tight.

Yes, they are interlocked. A little tricky, but once you have done it, it will be easy from then on. Kind of lift and twist, gently.

Have you removed the two 10 nuts that are under the dash? You'll need to remove those before the grommets will release the front fairing

Success, it's off! Once I got the side panels off I could see the grommets and 10mm nuts. Thanks again.
