    Just answering the question ...
For me it did take the discount to swing the deal.

its kind of funny a great bike doesn't sell well-I think it was way over priced anyway, Honda sells motorcycle just for practice not to make money. It may have cost Honda as much as you paid to make the bike.

I guess as you get older getting a little regularly is no longer important :)

You are correct. It is a great bike even at MSRP. Its compromises suit me just fine, but I guess the attempt to appeal to both the sport guys as well as the sport-touring guys failed at the price they were looking for, where other more pure alternatives exist in each category.
My bike was acquired by the dealer in an auction of bikes in crates by Honda. On Cycle Trader it seems there were a bunch of them available at the same time at different dealers. I have a CTX700 N dct as well, and it also presents as a cross between the sport and touring styles. Based on the CTX700 forum activity, the lower price point on this bike seems to be working out for Honda, even in the US. That price point, well equipped, is close to what I paid for my 1200. The CTX bike by the way works well as my commuter bike (light, manouverable, low CG) , but I like the VFR for longer rides (more stable at speed, and more fun of course).
Neither bike is a "need", more a "want".

I’m 66 (for the next two months anyway) and just purchased the ’14. Now that I’m well into “middle age” I figured it time to get a mellower ride. The ’08 CBR 1K is gone but not forgotten. I may have paid sticker, but the trade in on the CBR was $6,500, just $300 less than it cost me in 2009.

I didn't say the vfr 1200 was junk, I said it was a great motorcycle that most people don't know about-the same could be said for the 800. I don't know anyone except one person that has a 800 and haven't even seen a 800vfr in maybe 2 years except mine, and I have posted many pic of the bike

I have yet to see a black one in the flesh. Maybe we don't get the black ones over here. The black looks fantastic!

My black/grey bike was purchased in US and is run here in US. It was one of the available colors here in 2013, maybe the only color available in DCT. My profile lists UK as place of birth and therefore the Union jack flies there but I have been here in US since 1980, naturalized since 2003.

Sunwolf is probably some kind of relation to BB, if not his alter ego...

Yes I do own a Harley I am no biker by any means...nor do I aspire to be! Would I buy another? No freaking way. I like the bike don't get me wrong, nice cruiser don't have to worry about getting tickets on it like I do on the VFR. It likes to go fast! Which is fun too...so you see I got the best of both worlds. a cruizer and a crotch rocket for the adrenaline rush which my Interceptor does quite well. :smile-new:

If you sold the Harley, it might be enough for some breast implants then y'all could go riding together.

I have a 1998 VFR 800 and when I ride on the racetrack my pegs scrape. I am looking for an aftermarket set of footpegs that won't scrape in the turns.
