Just got my first service done. Ive been searching the forums and seems to me that people are getting 150-200 miles on their 6th gen VFRs. Are you guys touring and getting those MPG's? Im in the city with stop and go and lights. Im not getting near those numbers. Does this mean something is wrong with my bike?

What do you guys get in the city?

    edit:

I should also mention I like riding in Vtec range sometimes. Im getting around 30MPG i think. Will my MPG get better?

I have been getting roughly on avg. 180 per fill up. I have a mixture of touring and city driving. I normally ride around 6500-7500 rpm range

I've only run one tank through, but I made my 175 mile commute and was flickering at a quarter tank remaining.

    However...

I'm pretty sure I was only above 6k in a passing lane and very briefly.

I do mostly commuting on mine, heavy traffic, and I ride it pretty hard to stay away from the crazy cages. I average about 38 mpg.

I am with hfam. I am getting lousy mileage in the city and I am not going very easy on it. But when I am on the highway I seem to get really good mileage I would say 40 mpg highway and 20 city. But hey its still better then my blazer.

I commute 100 miles a day, and try to hit the twistys on the weekend. I'm getting right about 190-200 miles per tank.

Well I filled up and reset the tripmeter. I will see what I can get out of here. Another thing I see is that if I fill her up while seated Im missing one bar a couple minutes after riding. Normal?

In the few months that I've owned it, I tend to keep to the back roads on my VFR, so I'm probably not getting the best milage possible. Some city riding, some highway riding, but mostly back roads riding.

Last fill up, I averaged about 38 mpg. I can get 200 miles to a tank, but by that point my fuel light has been on for a while and I'm starting to sweat a little. I have yet to figure out just how optimistic/pessimistic that fuel light is. I feel like really pushed it when I hit 200 miles the other week.

For city riding, 30mpg doesn't sound that far off, honestly. For it's displacement, the VFR is a thirsty bike. Non-riders are always amazed at how bad the milage actually is, they all seem to think that it should get around 60mpg.

My daily commute is 60 miles of which only 10% is stop and go. I'm getting just under 44 MPG and at 180 miles, I still have 2 bars on the display. I fill my tank to the brim, probably just an inch below the cap and it takes the first bar about 5-10 minutes to disappear.

seeing 45-55 mpg depending on my mode I'm in. 220 miles per tank is easy seen 245 before the light came on once, mostly right around the 230 mark is when I'll see the light.

RVFR, are you getting this mpg with a stock setup? I've recently been struggling with my mpg. I added a remus exhaust and power commander. I just recently started adjusting the buttons on the unit. As it came to me from the shop, I was getting 150 miles to a tank on the highway at moderate speeds-terrible mileage. So far, the first half of the tank after the recent adjustment, highway riding is showing more like 190 miles...

When I was in the ciy though, I think I was at 28 mpg, in San Francisco, hills and TONS of stops. The vfr is heavy...

If your running in the VTEC a lot and in the city 30mpg sounds about right. Once you are in the upper rev range the fuel consumption jumps quite a bit. My normal range in the city mostly below 7000 is 140-150 miles to the blinking light. Way better out of town.

Wow! I have been waiting and trying to thread this topic for awhile. I am riding 2001 VFR 800 and my bike is drinking like mad. Last year when the fiii-up only take around $10, I did not think anything of it. Now, Almost $17 per fill (med grade) and i am really sweating. I am riding is a mixture of in the city and highway. The last two full tanks, I average around 90 miles per tank. I believe that is around 22 mpg and my honda gets better mileage than that. I guess there is something wrong with the bike, do you think? Should I bring it in?

'98 VFR800: City riding with some long and short runs between lights sits around 42mpg (US) while country riding is running at about 44mpg or better (depends on how fast I'm going and how much overtaking). This is using standard unleaded petrol, an Arrow slip-on and OEM air filter.

You should bring it in. You might need a tune up. A O2 sensor maybe out.

Have an 06 with about 1200 miles on it. Average about 38-42 mpg city/hwy mixed. Get about 150 miles before the warning light comes on which best I can figure leaves about 2 gallons in the tank. I've never had to put in more than a little over 4 gallons (but I dont' drive around long with the warning on) Seems the MPG have increased a little after breaking it in.

 22 miles per gallon, what are you doing  drag racing between lights all the time ??? Because I get better than that Racing on my RC51.

If not, it needs to go in & be ck'd out, especially @ these fuel prices.

My '04 get's about 200 per tank & I'm a hot rodder (actually, my daughter rides it now & gets about 220 atank @ the light).

Hee hee had to add this, my '06 Triumph sprint averages about 39 in town & about 52 on the highway  @ a not legal pace, hee hee hee :first:

No, not really, first off mine is carbed, has a Staintune with the snubber out with a K-N air filter that I keep clean. Heres something thou that came to mind when another member here asked what it is I do different to get that millage. Ha ha LOL as I ride mine at a pretty good clip. He too was seeing what he thought lousy millage mid 30s, so when we rode yep he's getting lousy millage where I still had 1/4 tank he was on the light so we scratch our heads and guess what we found.
One he switched to premium fuel I use, chevron for the most part then went to 10-40 Amsoil like me.. ;) guess what, his millage is now like mine, Steve says it runs smoother now and has more snap, just a happy little critter now. Go figure.

My 07VFR gets better mileage than my 83 VF750F. The 07 will go 200-210 miles on a fill-up before it starts flashing at me. The 83 needs a pit stop after only 100-120 according to how I ride it. The 07 mileage drops somewhat in the city, but not much. Since it's brand new I keep playing with the V-tech. It might get even better mileage at a more steady speed.
