Hi gang! I just bought my second bike, a 2007 VFR in candy red (just under 11k miles), last Tuesday and drove 5 hours to pick 'er up. I rode a 2004 KLR650 for a couple of years and sold it earlier this year with 56k on the clock. I loved the KLR but man, this bike is in a league of its own. I'm not sure if my bike doesn't have all of the VFR quirks I've read about or if I just don't notice them coming from the KLR. I'm 6'3 and find the lowered center of gravity makes the bike super easy to move/push around and I love the refined power. I've already read quite a few threads from this site and wanted to go ahead and register to keep learning more about my new bike. I love the bike so far and don't plan on doing much to it other than a PCV, K&N and exhaust someday. I had planned on gutting the exhaust this weekend but after picking up the bike and putting 100 or so miles on it I'm just so happy with it right now I don't want to change anything. I did tidy up the rear a little, it came with bags but I took them and the frames off until I need them. Also removed the passenger pegs and did the free fender eliminator mod I found on this site. I'm pretty picky so I went to AutoZone and found some bumper/trim clips to plug the bolt holes left from the passenger peg removal. I've posted the clips I used in case someone likes the idea. I tried a couple of sizes but these work the best for me and are still loose enough I could pop them out if need be. Now for the pics!

Washed and waxed it this morning and of course it started pouring rain immediately after.

Can you tell us a little more about the bike? Some things I'd be interested in:

    What is the mileage?
    How much did you pay?
Do you know why the person was selling it?

Your bike has the cowl cover, nice! Bike looks great......

Well done! Excellent first post! Right out of the gate giving helpful info (trim clips) and posting photos! Congrats. Your bike looks awesome. I dig that blood red look. Mean. I'm sure I would have described it as "wine red" if I would have seen it last night, say, around 10pm.

Yeah, similar words have been spoken by many in these parts. I'm guessing you'll find a few more things to do to the bike. Not that it necessarily needs it but that's just how, in my experience, people who frequent these forums tend to be. It's a great community and you pick up so many helpful tips here and there that it's almost impossible not to make changes to your bike when you see and read for yourself how well it worked for others.

    Anyway, welcome and congrats again!

Welcome to The World Fishoops! As mentioned already kudos for pics and for the tips. As far as gutting exhaust, there are a few post on the forum where they do a how-to that might help. From what I recall a sawzall and Drexel are the tools required.

When I bought mine (used) it already had an aftermarket exhaust so I opted for the PCV and K&N air filter and other than losing a few MPG, I'm happy with how she rides, a bit smoother and less abrupt VTEC engagement point.

Thanks for the welcomes guys! Since I had plenty of time to think on the long drive to pick it up I actually started to second-guess the color choice, thinking maybe it was too purpley or magenta-y. When the seller opened up the storage unit I was smitten though, I think it looks much better in person than in pictures. I'm still loving it after a week, going to change the oil and fluids pretty soon to make sure it stays in tip top shape.

Part of the reason I chose the VFR is because it's totally unique around here (only seen one more, ever, and it was the day before I got this one so I took it as a sign). I'm sure nobody around here knows what it is and the sweet V4 music is just icing on the cake.

My only regret is that I don't have a garage to keep it in. I am ashamed to say it lives outside under a cover for now but I do plan to wash/wax it every week or so to keep the nastiness at bay. Just ready to get out of the thunderstorm-every-afternoon late summer cycle here.
