What year and mileage is the bike. Since this is in the 5 Gen section I am assuming it is a 5 Gen (98-01) which have been known to have a bit of electrical issues, mostly due to wiring. The later year models less so, but not totally immune. I would strip all of the fairings off and inspect all the wiring and connectors and start from there. Of course Quattro has a good point, check all the fusses first. One of the first things to check are the connectors, many a 5 Gen have had melted connectors which have led to bigger issues.

Good luck and keep us posted.

    Cheers

Is the clock alive? The clock gets it plus directly from the battery even if the ignition is off. I the clock doesn't work, I guess it is a missing ground to the dash - or a connector/wiring problem as 00TV says.

Hi Adam and welcome to the MadHouse:welcome:

When you get time please drop by the "introductions" section of the forum and say hello to the rest of the folks on here. But make sure you add at least one photo of your VFR or it won't be long before folks start raggin on you! [To add photos Click on the Insert Image icon and follow the prompts]. Please can you update your forum profile "Forum Actions + Edit Profile" [link at the top of the page] to include the specs of your VFR and a rough location - city/town is fine. That way this information will appear alongside all your posts and if you need help with a problem you may find someone lives nearby who is willing to swing by and help especially if you have a well filled beer fridge:drink:!

    :focus:

I am glad to hear you have managed to fix the dash. If the bike has been stood for a while, then its probably a good idea to start by giving it at least a basic service, and check all the basics especially the brakes and tyres.

    Take care
