    DSC_0033.jpg vfr800.jpg Hi All

My names Michael Pipe and I live in Melbourne Australia.

Recently purchased a 1998 Honda VFR800Fi which had one owner. Unfortunately it was never garaged and needed some loving.

Have pulled the front down and had the forks re hard chromed and had both wheels re powder coated, looks great so far. Have replaced all the Hydraulic hoses with HEL braided lines, so looking forward to riding shortly. Still a few more things to tidy up and then it will complete again and garaged.
Looks like a Great site with plenty of advice. Nice to meet you all.

    :welcome: to the world!!

Keep on with the restore and keep the pics coming. 2000 was the only year they did yellow here in the states. They had a cool blue color overseas one year too we didn't get here.

Welcome! I assume that you have the Honda Service Manual or did you guess on the brake bleeding procedure? Linked brakes seem to throw most guys off, especially when it comes to the bleeding process.

I put HEL lines on both my VFRs along with EBC HH pads and braking has never been a worry ever since, I think you'll like them.

Glad to see you came to the rescue, I have a neighbor that keeps his bike chained to the car port post and probably rides it once every 4-5 months. I told him if you're not gonna ride it, keep it in the garage or under a decent cover. Still sitting out in the open!

Anyway, stick around and enjoy the show.

    Cheers!

Nice job on scoring a yellow VFR. I tried for about 2 years to find a yellow close to me when I started looking for a 5th gen. No sooner had I purchased my 2000 VFR800 (in red - naturally) than about 3 of the yellow ones popped out of the shadows.

Yep I have the service manual and also downloaded a Workshop manual which has helped. I used to have a Black Honda Deauville which also had Linked braking system, so was quite happy with this.
Not sure why peoples want to unlink the brakes but I'm sure someone will explain why! I purchased a Brake Bleeder from the States, which by brother reckons will make the bleeding a lot easier
It wasn't until I removed the fairing that I realized how much love and effort I was going to have to give this old girl, she's come up pretty good.
Just had the forks re hard chromed and waiting for those to come back and then I can start putting her back together.
Unsure if the rectifier has had the upgrade that a lot talk about?
    More pic to follow.
    Thanks Michael
