I just recently acquired a 1986 VFR and it needs some TLC. The Carbs are pretty far gone from mice living in it before i got it so my question is will any other year carbs fit the 1986? According to the microfiche i looked at Honda says no but i didnt know it it was just a minor jetting change from year to year.

Too far gone to clean and rebuild? From what I understand, these are usually rescue-able. Mine were pretty terrible when I got my '86 as well, choc full of RTV and filth. But they are 100% now.

Not sure about the OP's issue, but I've seen rat and mice urine do unbelievable damage to alloy, steel, and copper components. Just eats stuff up. This is not to mention the typical "chewing" damage.

Btw Ryno, welcome to the forums.

Only other carbs that work are from '87 F2 models.

Hello, i have the same situation as RYNO160. I have all my carbs out . you have to be very thorough and careful (careful removing the slow jet ! do not break the top with a flathead screw driver). i unfortunately broke the "pilot screw" or "idler mixture screw". Honda says it is discontinued ?? to buy the whole carb $400. i also need to replace the butterfly screws as well . Any help on where to get butterfly screws ? and pilot screw?
    thank you.
