That is not right...........I would stay away from this bike or pay close attention to the front end. I would double check if it has been wreck.
    I smell fishy

Yeah... I hope not.... cos it's arriving probably on sat. If it's been in a wreck ill have to go legal as he has explicitly stated he has only done the fairing. And that he has never had an accident.

Welcome aboard, far too few Sarf Efricans here. Have you been dealing with the guy via e mail (or even sms), that way it's in writing so to speak. I would be a little wary or the fork thing, unless it was cut I don't think it can come off with the forks on the bike. On the other hand, it may have had the seals done and the clowns that did the job forgot to put it back.

Yeah. That was my thinking. But seals on 11 to000km. I am waiting for a mail reply (not a telephone reply I've had previously )saying if it been in an accident or not. Also want to see the reg papers to see if it was built up or a code 3

I'm in Durban (seems CT is VFR country). Good idea on the e mail, it will also show he's dodgy if he shy's away from it. Although low mileage, it is 7yrs old so a bike shop may have talked him into a fork seal job to wring a few extra bucks out of a service. Another thing may be to check the vin number with Honda SA to make sure it's not a grey bike. Did you convert the mileage to miles for our American friends? If it's a Japanese spec bike I would think it would be in Kms. That may be a non-issue though.

Yip. Converted the k's. Will wait n see what he says tommorrow. Seems like a decent bloke and when I mentioned the fork protector he seemed genuinely surprised. He seems legit... but hey its gumtree and who knows.
I can get it for 53... so with courier 55.
Everything seemed on the up n up cept for the fork thing.

I guess tommorrow will see. Shot for the help budd.

My pleasure man. Good luck with the bike, sure it will be fine. VFR's have a bit of an "old man bike" reputation so aren't normally bought by hooligans (big VFR's that is, seen a couple of 400's that I wouldn't touch with a bargepole )

Ok, we have more news, he mailed me the reg papers , yip he's had it since new. 2007 registered, and he put in the mail it's had no accidents since he's had it.
He has no idea what happened with the fork protecter as he had never noticed it before.

How are the bikes shipped to Honda?
    Without forks attached?
I suppose its possible the muppets put it together , realized and figured it was too much hassle taking the forks off?

I dunno, but with a bit of luck it will arrive Monday .... or so.

Thanks everyone for the help, i will update with pics and tales of either woe or happiness.

The mystical words are written in the great book of the later day saints on 20lb bond and a #2 pencil stub.

As with most things there are several ways to solve these vexing problem when an R/R craps oot.

Have plenty of pesos in your pocket

Don't ever expect Honda to own up to this. Loosing face is a big deal to them. Losing money may even be a bigger deal.

    Carry a spare.

Don't assume that because the R/R on any bike hasn't failed it's not going to fail. The history here is wide and deep

There's more, but in case the optimist overcomes the pragmatist, stock in aboot half a dozen of those Tshirts that say "Shit Happens". Three should have the words spelt backward for use looking in the mirror since reflection is always a good thing.

Its possible some muppet may have damaged it during servicing. Or if the bike was ever transported by truck it could've been caused by a tie down wrongly placed. Its plastic so it could have broken into pieces & not removed intact.

    Waaaaaaaaa, i got it!!!!

    in a word... Sublime.
it feels alot more capable than the FZ6, i don't know if its just the finish but i feel alot more stable on this than the Yammie.
Wow, i am really happy. the guys trailer-ed it down through a couple of storms so she arrived absolutely filthy, so i spent the first 2 hours giving her a good going over.

I would say she is 99 % condition of new, nothing missing ('cept the fork piece) all good, just did a roadworthy this morning.
Did a couple of corners and she feels fantastic... but there is a head shake at around 70 on deceleration.
I pumped the tires (bridge stone bt02 ) on back and (bridge stone bt 014) on the front) .
2.2 ON FRONT AND 2.5 ON BACK

    Question: Are these tires mismatched?

Forks, i really don't believe they have been off as the bolts still have their paint marks and no scratches.

I can always look at doing the headstock over the weekend, and will check out a few things.
And advice is ,once again, appreciated.

    Thanks guys
