The enjoyment has gone out of riding! Have I been riding too long?

Hey, if this works check it. Try riding a vintage 2 stroke, 1981 RD350LC. Its impossible to go for a boot and not have a huge smile

Love that 2-storke, maybe he is Waldo and the new thread could be "where is Waldo, aka Jim."

I know the bike.. More than one in my club..Not my club really but the club I'm in. The old Enfield vertical twins are good looking and like Ariel Square Fours both of which shift on the "wrong" side ;) can both use a tube or two of 3M Super Trim Cement to make them better. One or two of the "Indian" versions and at least one of the Indian Indian versions show up at our meets and displays.

Pic is an example from Google Images. Yep.. Getting rare everywhere..

Does this mean now I don't have to have frame sliders after all that bitching you did for weeks?. Brushing will not cure mange in cats. Mange is caused by little bugs that are really hard to see. Good Lord, I just had a revelation. Are you by chance using the same brush on yourself that is used on your cats? Another great reason to see a Physician ASAP. So how old is too old when you sell the cats for food?

I see no evidence that you and your cats are members of any recognized cattery in the NorthEastern US. Is what you have a black market for white cats?

Will you be less angry with me if I do finally put frame sliders on the mach1 91 even though I am not a shemale?

A more precise term is "cranial colonic". Either one works just fine because shit happens. It's the law of nature. Somebody famous figured that out, not me.

I think you didn't take your Meds today. I only have a few cats. I don't need to be a cattery. I don't care if you ruin your bike that's up to you. The cats don't have any bugs, the only bug is Bad Billy the troll, aka Billy the kid.:tinfoil3::nelson:

You know, I was 40 when my twins were born. I sold my '04 Kawi 9R (loved that bike) and thought - I'm not going to ride for a long time. New priorities, blah, blah, blah... That's after 20+ ear of riding, racing, and many different bikes.

Four years later, I'm here having just bought a new VFR. I'm in heaven. This feels better than the first time I got on a sports bike when I was 22... Never again will I give up my right to ride. Life's too damn short.

I can't imagine being bored with anything that's has a engine and wheels.
Been riding over 45 years and I can't wait for the next ride. I ride to work every day in all weather conditions other than snow and ice.100 miles round trip. I'm guessing you need to find new destinations. I have multiple bikes so I have options that change things up. Join a group .

I took a 20 year break, long enough to forget how good it was
One day I woke up and thought, Where is my bike?
Bought one the next month and I have not looked back, can't belive I let it go so long.
It is my "me" time, my church that I go to every Sunday.
Maybe that's what you need, if your not enjoying it, stop doing it, have a break.
No point doing something you don't enjoy.
Come back in a year or so, hell, you might even miss it within a few months and think WTF.

PS: don't go back to old crap, old crap is old crap. Doesn't compare to pushing a good machine and yourself to the limits, not much point if those limits are 40mph.
I use to have an 81 RD400, it use to lift the front every gear, it was fun then, now it just doesn't seem that quick, and couldn't go around corners if it tried.

So much advise here. I can only add that riding had become almost blase for me, until I hooked up with some people from a local Ducati dealership and started riding with them. Also, going on a 5000+ mile ride through seven states to ride the Dragon helped rekindle a passion to almost an obsession. I sorta took it for granted before, but now I am overwhelmed with gratitude each time I ride. Check out my little thread about my trip, over at VFRD, maybe it will spur you on. It changed my life!

I am feeling it too. Riding around Dallas sometimes feels like too much work and too much danger. The roads around here are, for the most part, arrow straight and I have covered most of them exhaustively. I have found that in addition to my bikes, I have lost interest in many other aspects of my life. I am involved with the care of my elderly parents. I see how things end and it leaves me with a "what's the point" kind of attitude. Because of this responsibility, have been rather afraid of getting hurt and it has effected how I ride. I find I am over cautions, do not ride with a good flow and feel that I am behind the rhythm, as the jazz guys say. It makes riding more of a chore than it should be.

Two month ago I started to ride a bicycle regularly. I think getting some regular exercise is a good way to fend off the creeping effects of old age. I hate exercise but this is the closest thing to motorcycle riding and I actually enjoy doing it. It hurts but so does damn near everything I do now.

I also think that sometimes you have to ride, even when you don't feel like it. It is easy for me to just say "That's a lot of trouble" and not do anything. Last weekend I took all my bikes out for an extended romp. I have to say I enjoyed myself very much. The VFR is flawless as always but the Norton is just plain fun to ride (slower) and it is a conversation magnet. Everyone wants to talk about the Norton. If I want to talk bikes I just ride the Beast. I took my old Ascot for a ride too and that bike is just low powered thumper fun.

It has been said here that riding is about buddies and adventure and I think they are on to something. I took the VFR down to South Texas in June and since I was with a friend we had a great time and made some good memories. There is nothing wrong with that. I don't know what that answer is since I seem to be struggling with the same issues myself but trying something, anything, different is a good start.

Those were such good machines and got off to a really bad start with a batch of bad cranks. I believe it was the only British twin with a center main bearing.

Actually the leg isn't too bad these days it is just that the doc didn't put my foot back on square and my foot keeps missing the shifter, or the brake on my English bikes . Ok Ok I'll be a bit more positive, I'll get out a bit more, but OZ VFR I live in Vic and we have the best Club reg deal in the world so I will never ever own a bike younger than 25 years old ever again, it cost me $70 to register against $700 for a bike younger than 25 years. Jim, I know where you are at but I guess we can only say we go there. As for the Interceptors, they don't have a center bearing, just one big heavy crank, biggest problem was dodgy oil feed to the crank on the Series 1 and 1A but there has been a modified quill feed setup for them for many years now and the Series 2 a wet sump motor suffered from the feed oil seal popping out of the timing cover and then it was all over. Not a startling performer like the road tests reported but still a fun old machine

It's not bitchin as much as it's like a general apathy. When life loses it flavor and your scratch your head and say "hey! Where did it go?" It is worrying to me that I am having a hard time getting my enthusiasm back for anything. I am not giving up but I am on the hunt for my youthful enthusiasm.
