Hey, new guy to here. After much studying and shopping I bought a 98 VFR a couple months ago. Love it! BUT in the process of shopping for it kinda fell in love with the 07 25th anniversary rwb bike. Soooo now I've got one of them too. The 07 came with only 3500 miles, and I'm proud to say I've already put another 1000 on it. But dang, my but hurts. My bigger rides have been 180, 250, and 410. I'd love to get in more 400+ days but after 200 miles I'm about done. It's got a Sargent seat and heli risers which seem good... I'm thinking it's not the bike, it's me. I'm 6'6'" so maybe the risers sit me too far up? I feels like if I crouch down a bit (as if I were on lower bars) the wind is way better and I'm a bit more comfortable. Thoughts? I've looked around a bit for stock bars thinking they would be a dime a dozen, but haven't really seen many out there. Also wonder if just a universal clip on with no rise would be even better... Or I just need to toughen up!

You already have a Sargent, which is good. You might check the the classifieds here for the stock bars, a lot of guys have the Helibars. One problem you might have is most guys have taken out the OEM dampers and put them in the Helibars, so their stock bars might not be vibration free. If you find a set of stock bars without dampers, you can get what I got, after market dampers called Vibranators (I know sounds dubious), they got rid of vibration in mine.

You might look at lowering the pegs a little, take a few adjustments on the gearshift and rear brake lever.

Hi and welcome to the Forum:welcome:!

I doubt your post will get picked up here - so you really need to scroll down the forum home page until you reach the 1st/2ng gen sub-forum and put your question there.

Also when you get a chance please drop by the "introductions" sub-forum and say a proper hello to the folks on here and add some photos of the new bike.

:focus: - If the VF1000 is like most Honda's, then any tool kit will probably be in a pouch tucked under the seat, although if it has been through several previous owners over the last 30 years then its quite likely any tool kit has gone astray.

    Take care

Hi and welcome to the MadHouse:welcome:

It sounds like you have really got the VFR bug! The folks on here will be very keen to see some pictures of your bikes! When you get a chance you may also want to update your forum profile ("My Profile" link at the top of the page) to include the year/specs of your VFRs and a rough location city/state is fine. That way the information will appear with all your forum posts and if you need help with a problem you may find someone nearby willing to swing by and help - especially if you have a well stocked beer fridge :drink: !

As for advice on getting the bike right for a taller rider, you may want to post up your question over in the 6th gen section of the forum as there are plenty of taller riders on here who own 6th Gen bikes who will be able to advise what works best.

If you revert the bike to the standard bars they will place more load on your wrists than the helibars you have at present, so as an alternative you may want to consider fitting a taller screen. As for the seat being uncomfortable, it may be that the Sargent seat is not helping, and you just might be better off with either a stock seat or a seat from another manufacturer. Admittedly the stock seat is not brilliant but it is fairly wide so especially on long runs you can usually find a more comfortable position. If you post in the 6th gen part of the forum you may find someone who lives nearby and is willing to swap seats with you during a short run so you can try out the stock version. I assume you have arranged to get the bike suspension set up right for you - as that can also affect how comfortable the bike feels.

    Take care
