I hope all this doesn't create a run on Radio Shack.

LOL!! A few back there was a dude on a local Seattle BB that reviewed LED's. He was a little strange but knew his stuff. (Unlike SOW and The People of Walmart)

Must be the season for LEDs. I just finished this on my 5th gen. I think I need more lights under the tail, but I'm not 100% sure I want that area over-emphasized.

Cheap controller from SuperBrightLEDs has about 10 flash modes, and can control brightness overall. The PO of my bike had drilled a hole for an accessory socket that wasn't functional, so I reused the hole for the master switch.

While I was at it, I wired in a volt meter but didn't show that part. Got this tiny one from Ebay and it's just velco'd to the top of the dash surround right now. eventually I'll cut it in.

I had no idea this stuff was so popular. Last night I saw a dude on a Harley that had some strips of multicolored LEDs attached to his grips like that fringe that used to be cool among some riders. I think what would really be cool is a vest using the same technology as the LED signs. That and a keypad or maybe even a phone app and a person could have messages flashing even on short rides to Kmart or Walmart.

If someone comes out with one I will buy it only if it includes spellcheck. DOG IS DED has little meaning to most cagers. same deal with THE BENCH FALLD OOF. The advertising potential would be endless. Things like "Want to have a good time? Call (insert number) and ask for (insert name)". What a great way to play a joke on your best friend's mom.

Probably, but what a way to go. All those stories of seeing angels and hearing heavenly music and revisiting long gone relatives are fine, but a great rack is good too.

I checked the amazon link in the video for more info, that item is no longer available. I was checking to see if it was programmable. I know I've seen a system that uses a plate bracket with led's. Programmable messages scroll across the bottom. Badbilly mentioned app. I think the technology exists to have a bluetooth communicator in your helmet paired to a phone & led display. The speech recognition software in the phone could translate words to text and send it to the display. I'm not saying we should have these things, at best it's a novelty item. But sooner or later I think we'll be seeing it.

Until then the finger still works pretty good for me. :)

I think you type really well for only having one finger. ;)

I took a quick look at a couple of outfits that make LED signs. All possible configurations are in place including programmability for daylight and night operation.

A friend made a stoplight/flasher for me for my BMW years ago (like 20) the LEDs were pricy. I made a widget about 10-12 years ago with one LED and a suction cup to plug into my radar detector. Still sort of pricy at that time and not all that many choices. LED prices have dropped since and have gotten brighter and with a greater range of color temperatures, so much that I understand that some cellphones are using LEDs for flash pix replacing xenon tubes.

The real fun part down the line would be an ability to hack some harleydoods LED vest or jacket. In an attempt to keep what might be displayed on the clean side, we could start with,

    "MADE IN JAPAN"

" May I view your breasts?"

    "MILWAUKEE BOAT ANCHORS"
