Well, after pulling the clutch basket to install a new oil pump chain, I think I have found the root of the ticking coming from the clutch basket. 4 of the 6 springs in the basket are loose, 2 of them quite loose. Is it possible to change the springs? Not sure with the sprung, double geared basket. If I am able to change them, does anyone know a supplier? Does anyone have a good basket with tight springs they would get rid of?
Any help sure would be appreciated.

I think I am going to have to buy a used one and try it, not having any luck finding any different info. Hopefully this will take care of the ticking sound, and all will be good from there, so I can ride this girl.

Well, that didn't do it,rattle is still there. Ticking sounds like it is maybe originating from the front head, but I can hear it on both sides, all the way down through the clutch basket. The only thing I can think of is it is either the front cam chain or the tensioner. I REALLY don't want to have to pull this engine apart. When we put this engine together, EVERYTHING, and I mean everything that we could measure for tolerance was right on the money, I guess that would tell me that maybe I have a weak tensioner. Or it may not be all the way in the slot. Any suggestions from any of the guru's here?

When you rev the engine, does the rattling get louder on deceleration? if so, classic chain tensioner noise.

I suppose it would be in my best interest to buy the tensioner (#5 in the microfiche), and the arm (#15 in the microfiche), and get with the PITA of changing them. Are these parts readily available? Thanks
