Have been prompted by VFRworld for some time to make my first post and introduce myself on the 'Introductions Forum'. Finally had the time to do so this morning (EDT).

Purchased my first motorcycle (1986 VF500F Interceptor) and really couldn't be happier with it. I have been hunting craigslist for about 2 years now, waiting for the right time and bike. Interestingly enough, the ad that caught my attention did so without a picture. The listing had appropriate punctuation, was fluid, and answered all the questions I normally ask when researching a bike. I immediately took the opportunity to check out the bike in person and absolutely loved the older model Honda; I really enjoy the lines along the tank and frame. Additionally, the color was unique - burnt orange. A downside is that the bike had been dropped once before. However, with the understanding that I am a new rider, I wasn't upset at a scraped fairing. I registered and insured the bike within that week and have been riding as frequently as weather and work will allow.

Low and behold, I ended up dropping the bike within the first week. Rather bummer of a mistake - left the bike in gear when I was getting gas and was not on the motorcycle when I decided to try and start it - caught gear and dumped. I will always be on any motorcycle I start in the future. Broke the clutch handle (had an extra in the box that came along with the purchase). Then the next week I dropped it when taking a turn (was on a street near my parents house that I had driven since I had a car and naturally fell into a speed that would work for a car - it was too fast for a bike). This drop didn't break any clutch handles, but the L. handle came across the tank and put a nice dent in (I cry a little every time I see it).

Recently, I was informed that the rear tail light was not running (brake light works fine). So I would offer to post pictures, but I currently have the front fairing off, fuse box disassembled, and am trying to diagnose what is causing the Tail/Meter fuse to blow. (Back light for Speedo is not functioning).

Great to see an active Honda VFR community,

    K

Hi K. I've always liked that color, but don't see too many around.
