Where is the ignition "pick up" wire used to dyno tune?

So, virtually no choice of where to have my bike dyno tuned, I had to take it to a Harley dealer who tunes. I'll spare you all the description of my frustration. :mad-new: Basically, they spent 1.5 hr and still can't find where to connect the leads to the ignition pulse without interruption.

Do any of you guys / gals (?) know where tuners usually hook up? Or could you refer me to a shop who tuners have experience with VFR's? (Apparently, the Harley guys called other Honda dealers, but none of there suggestions worked. The signal was still interrupted.

    I appreciate any help.

the closest dyno to me is also a harley dealer, i called him awhile back and he didnt even know what a VFR was so decided not going there. Try calling a honda shop w/ a dyno? maybe get lucky and guy there tell you, hope you didnt pay that harley dyno any money.

mind giving me your map when you have it worked out? ive tried a few now and when i pull in clutch to downshift my bike dies, unhook pcv and bikes fine.

None of the Honda dealers anywhere near me have a dyno. This was the only dyno I could find. One other father /son outfit was having personnel issues, and couldn't do it. Anyway, I picked my bike up from the Harley dealer (a little bent out of shape), but it sounds like they tried everything they could think of.

[My issue with the Harley dealership had to do with the service guy telling me that after 1.5 hrs they couldn't get a clean pick up signal so they quit working on it because they "had more pressing jobs to work on". I was told I had a 3 hour spot. That infuriated me.]:chaingun:

AS for your stall, I was just involved in a thread on here about that very issue. My stalling turned out to be the result of hole in the cap I made to cap off the pair valve nipple on the forward cylinder heads. Another forum member, Meatloaf, was very helpful. But I guess you've read that already... since it was your original post! :biggrin-new:

I'm not opposed to sharing my map, as long as it's legal??? Why not? But at this point, I don't have a tuner to take it to. Not to mention, I need to learn why my bike would cause the 'pick up' to disappear above 3000 rpm no matter where they put the lead(s).
