    Hi all.

Just hoping for shopping advice. My VFR has had a few mods, including 43mm 1990 GSXR forks.

I can't use the standard clip-ons because they hit the fairing. The original GSXR clip-ons fit UNDER the top of the tree. I need bars that rise over the top.

The previous owner machined some clips to go under the top of the tree, but they look janky and I don't trust them in the long run.

Have any of you cool kids performed this mod? What bars did you use? Woodcraft makes some bars that might work, but the clamps on the top of the tree are in the way!

    THANKS!

    TIA!

PS. The subject was supposed to say "mongrel" but now I can't edit the title. Oops.

There are kits to put super bike bars on. Search the net for that scenerio, you should find something. I know a guy with a blackbird that did it that way. (bike is like VFR). I'll see if I can find his post on the bb board.

It looks like the top of your upper tree is nice and flat. You might be able to drill holes and install a set of handle bar mounts. I got some nice ones for about $40 and then you can choose the handle bars you want. I'm running tall police bars on my bike. If you keep the bars short you won't have to extend anything.

BTW, we both have 86 bikes and both swapped 90 sport bike front ends. Both 43mm forks. Interesting.
