    OK I have a 2007 VFR 800 Vtec 8,500 miles on it .
I have put about 6,000 miles on it from when I 1st got it 1st of the year .
So this just started happening , I'm in 1st gear and I go full throttle up to red line shift into 2nd and I'm back to full throttle starts pulling and about 2 or 3 seconds it just pops out of 2nd back in to neutral .now if I ride normal in 1st gear and shift into to 2nd at about 6,000rpm and then go full throttle it stays will not pop out . Now to throw all the cards on the table , The only thing I have done recently to the bike is oil change full synthetic Mobile1 for motorcycle and bled the clutch fluid . this was all done over 6 weeks ago but this problem just started happening . I was going to take it in to the shop and let them take care of it but I wanted to ask here 1st . any clue ?

You may have grounded up second gear by shifting so hard, I would not the red line the bike in first either

It would be my guess your not getting it all the way into gear if was able to go back to neutral. Sounds more like a shift drum related issue rather than a damaged shift fork or gear. Just my two pennies.

My 4th gen with 42k would occasionally give me the ol false neutral, and I just have to give her a firm shift on the 1-2. My newer 6th gen ha never given me one and I give her the berries often with no problems. Work on the 1-2 with a solid upshift and you won't have any probs. There should be any wear with those low miles

If you do the full throttle shifts to second quite a bit and you're a bit sloppy with them, then you can round the engagement dogs on second gear which will result in it popping out of second gear if it isn't selected firmly enough. If that's what it is and it gets worse it will reach a point where it won't stay in second gear at all under hard acceleration. Make sure your gear selection is firm and you're not just stabbing at it.

ok just went for a ride and did not do it . I ran 1st into 2nd 4 or 5 time and was good every time . even in 2nd front tire was dancing pulling hard the whole time .
Now yesterday when the problem was happening I had been riding the bike all day . I'm just wondering by riding it all day having full synthetic oil it got super thin ?

SOW thought everyone ignored him the first time (they did) so he said it again~

I don't think this issue has ANYTHING to do with the oil. I think FJ12Rideroo has pretty much nailed it in Post #8...

The GBox upgraded detent will not fix a pop out problem if there is already internal damage to the gearbox, but it will certainly help prevent it.

    +1 on FJRyder

Worn tips on the engagement dogs for second gear from shifting so fast that the clutch doesn't have time to do it's thang--it's called beating the clutch...

    1. Your bike is not a drag racer.

    2. You are not on a drag strip.

Ride it right and it'll treat you the same. Otherwise, you're going to have troubles.

FMB42 ... Ride it right ? Are you kidding me ? So lets hear how you ride a VFR right or any bike for that matter . If I wanted to poke around I would buy a Harley With all due respect I'm not going to have anyone tell me how I should or should not right MY bike that I paid for . I'm not going to change the way I want to ride to suit the bike , I will change the bike to suit me .
I started this thread to ask a mechanical question So I can address the issue . I'm not trying to be nasty but it is how it is .

Anda thanks about suggestion about the Gbox I will look in to that . Maybe what I need .

Obviously that bike is way too manly for you. You can't handle it. Sell it to me, I'll head on down your way and do a test run with TNR. Go put your order in a a Suzuki Boulevard. :)
