    Hello,

I've actually been a member since May 25, 2007, but I have yet to post anything. I mostly review other member's posts for ideas. I guess there's no time like the present to finally post something and to introduce myself.

I'm 42 years old. I've been riding motorcycles since 1990, starting with a 1985 Honda Shadow VT750. The first bike I actually owned was a 1982 Suzuki GS650G from 1991 until 1995 when a newspaper driver in a pickup truck decided to make a U-turn right in front of me. The second bike I owned is my current bike, which is a 1999 VFR800Fi that I've had since 2001. I currently live in San Jose, CA, and I've become more of a seasonal rider over the years, riding solely on the streets. I would love to someday do track days, especially at Laguna Seca, Monterey, CA, but other expenses currently take precedence.

I haven't done any modifications to my bike, but would like to someday when my finances will allow. Some modifications that I would like to make are as follows: Zero Gravity windscreen, HPS Crash Protectors, Two Brothers (or REMUS or other?) slip-on exhaust (with a high-mount?), Dynojet Power Commander, and lowering my bike since I'm vertically challenged at 5'-4". Any feedback on these mods would be great. Thanks!

Now, with the formalities out of the way, I do have an electrical issue (due to rats damage), but I don't think this the right forum for it, so I will post it under the 'Mechanics Garage' instead....

Glad to see you come out and intriduce yourself.
If you low on $$$ Flip the Triangle plate will lower your bike about an inch, drop the triple tree in front to level the bike out.
Shaving the seat down also help. Good luck with Electrical problem. I am taking a walk for the other thread to check it out. :thumb:

I don't have advice for you as far as mods. I hardly spend any money on mods I don't consider necessary. *Disclaimer: If I buy a new 2014 VFR, I will paint it with a new color right away.
I do recommend you get used to the stock height instead of lowering your bike. At 5'4" with a 28" inseam, I too have to deal with issues those vertically-unchallenged are unfamiliar with. I've ridden a few lowered bikes, and I myself lowered my 03 GSX-R, only to find out that they behave in a way they were not designed for.
If you lower it, make sure you also shorten the kickstand.
Go meet the mayor in Sunol and check out the local bar. Nice little ride to get there on Niles Canyon road in Hayward.

Welcome. I don't know how you've resisted the urge to mod the bike for 13 years! I also bought my '99 in '01 in Sunnyvale, when living in Santa Clara. What Scuba said about lowering it, pretty easy and free mod. Laguna is also on my to-do list, Thunderhill is a little drive up I5 but track days are cheaper and it's a fun track.

Good luck with the electrical issues!
