Hi All, Last year I started riding again after being out of the saddle for 22 years. I picked up a used Kawasaki Concours that I really liked. A couple of weeks ago I looked at a used 2003 VFR and fell in love all over again. My previous favorite bike was an 83 Interceptor. Bye to the Concours and the VFR now has a new home with me. Yeah, yeah, I know get to the point. The previous owner never bothered with the recalls which I had done almost immediatel;y. So now that the wiring harness has been upgraded do I still need to do the wiring modification that's commonly done to the VFR ? Thanks, William
Buy yourself a multimeter and do "The Drill" and get a data point of the health of the charging system. A no brainer check is to look at the condition of the stator to R/R connector. If you dont watch it, its gonna burn.... Check post #9 http://vfrworld.com/forums/showthread.php/39277-How-to-fix-common-regulator-Stator-failures Also its worth it to install a voltage meter on the front of the bike so you can watch trends of how the system is doing. There's lots of options there.
:welcome: to the madness :wave: As Mello Dude suggest do the drill inspect all the connetors for burn or melting :jaw: Ride the bike and get to know her. Inspect connector every oil change would be ideas. +1 for volt meter :thumb:
