I just test rode an '04 VFR and really like it. But I am short and the far forward riding position is uncomfortable. I currently ride an F650GS which I realize is a very different bike but other than that part of the riding position I really like the VFR. My question is can bar risers make a significant difference in riding posture? What riser brings you into the most upright position possible?

Welcome! Heli-Bars are worth checking out. I' m using Gen Mar risers but thats only a small increase. 3/4" I think. When funds allow I'm upgrading to Helis. Something eles to consider is the seat. Aftermarket seats are a little flatter so your not sliding forward so much. That also helps relieve some wrist pain & helps keep you more upright.

I haven't tried Helibars, but GenMar risers have helped just a little. You might want to look into the Spiegler LSL handlebar kit.

Hey Veefor...when I bought my bike first day had the seat shaved down a tad and put Heli bars on...made a huge difference. Also Lustracing lowering triangles. Im 5'6 and its perfect for me...remember if ya lower it ..shorten kick stand..and raise forks in the triple tree..I think 8 or 10mm...cant remember...

I just saw your listing in classifieds. I'm interested in a set but awaiting final price and delivery from a dealer up here. Any idea if the 6th gen is the same as the 5th? Height and layback are exact. And yours are an older version, correct?
    Thanks!

I bought an 05 and like the bike, but like you didn't like the bars. So I cut the bars and rotated them to face one another in the middle. Then clamped a regular handle bar to them. Works like a champ. Had to reroute the throttle cables, clutch line and that was all. If your regular bar is longer or has a higher rise to it you will probably have to reroute the front brake line also. My handle bar was from a 1974 Suzuki GT380.

Can someone explain to me how the genmar risers work? All I can see is that they look like they space the clip-ons up on the fork but mine are already flush with the top of the fork tube so I'm having a hard time understanding how these will help...
