I have found a 94. Looks to be in good shape, 14k miles on the clock. I am a bit concerned about the ability to find spare parts for it should the need arrise, but being a Honda, I have high hopes the need does not arrise.

I still need to do a detailed inspection of the bike. The price is near $3,700 for it right now which seems high to me. Thoughts?

Depends. What kind of condition it's in besides the low miles, mods or bone stock, damaged or perfect, runs or dead battery, etc, etc, etc. Location is also important.

    bought a 97 this year

My 97 with 13,800 cost me $4100. All stock except for the TBR pipe. Tires were not great, but OK for a part of a year and serviced by a dealer.

just a reference for you. See previous post for extras.

I got my 2k VFR last December for 3,500. All stock with a Yoshimura exhaust. The previous owner also gave me a Zero Gravity Double Windscreen, set of brake pads, original keys and second set of keys, owners manual, kryptonite lock and chain, the rear seat cowl, and cover. I have had a new clutch & some Avon tires installed on the bike. I also replaced the front wheel, did the rear wheel bearing and swingarm bearings, and also replaced the chain. I would say if you can find a 4th or 5th generation VFR in good condition from an individual with under 24k on it, you may end up spending about $1500.00 - $2500.00 on mods, repairs and upgrades (and maybe a new jacket or helmet). A 94 VFR for $3700.00 is kinda pricey, but it is what I would expect a Dealer to charge for a VFR. If the bike is in really good shape and has been serviced it would be a consideration (assuming it is a dealer with a good rep). I would only repeat what others have said regarding mods and maintenance as far as is it worth buying. I am more prone to look for a VFR from an owner rather than a dealer. Most VFR owners take good care of their bikes and if they did a lot of mods and proper maintenance, they are better off selling it themselves because the dealer will not pay a fair price for the bike. If a dealer takes a used bike in as a trade-in they want to get it cheap enough to sell it for twice what they paid. Good luck!!!!

I just bought my '96 for $3,800, 15,050 miles (private sale). Bone stock except for a TBR stainless can. Absolutely mint, no scuffs, all stickers except for "break-in" sticker are still present. Has owner's manual, rear seat cowl, and fully loaded tool bag. New battery, R/R, and tires 500 miles old. Included a Tour Master armored jacket, and an HJC AC-11 helmet.

It was worth every penny. The guy originally wanted $4k, but 38 benjamins did the talking.

    Yeah, Thanks - good advice

Hey, that's good advice....where were you three months ago? I bought mine from a dealer. Had I known about the sites, I would have bought privately from one of the them more than likely.

Remember though, you have to feel good about the deal you are getting. We can only offer advice. It's your money, not ours.

Two years back, $3900, 18K, one owner. Great shape, less tires, which was ok I wanted something sticky anyway. Parts are still not all that hard to get either.
so it's in the ball park. Yep, Honda reliability, 32K on mine and not a worry in site.

    Oh BTW Congrats.

I just bought my 95 with 58,500 miles for $3000 but it included Givi bags, leather jacket (Joe Rocket), heated riding gear, all weather gear, rain suit, tank bag, bike cover and complete maintenance records from the purchase date to now. I couldn't be happier.

Old post...here it goes anyways...got my '97 w/ 17K for $2,500. Bike came w/ lock, two seat cowls, two keys, Zero Gravity Double Windscreen, decent tires, recently serviced, tank bag, owners manual, fresh battery, and tool bag. I just added a Givi top-mount luggage and looking to replace the stock exhaust. Next season I'll be visiting a few National Parks on this baby.
