Had an intermittent/flickering headlight issue on my '87 700F that I troubleshot down to the sticky starter switch. Can usually get the light to stay on if I pull the switch out a bit after engaging. Sure enough, could have saved a few hours of head scratching if I checked the forum first... Anyway, saw some posts that said later gen switch controls are a better design, and plug and play with the 2nd gen. How new can I go with a new assembly and still have it be plug and play? Is there another gen/year assembly that works best with the 2nd gen? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

You can go up to a Gen 5 RH switch, there is a locking pin you will need to drill a hole in your gen2 bar to make it fit properly.

Is the '87 switch the same as an '86?

    Thanks!

    Yep.
Not much differences between the two even between the 700 and 750.
