Found one that needs a starter and the carbs gone through, 34,000 miles. Overall good condition, has aftermarket silencer. Really good price but used starter is close to $100, probably needs new tires, $350. What is one of these worth?

After reading the title all I could think of was to lift with your knees and not your back. Got a starter you can have but,

It depends on the physical condition and how "squidified" it got.
    Pics would help.

Is this the bike located in Indiana?? If so, the owner sent me a pic. It didn't look too bad.

Make sure it's the starter and not the starter clutch. Does it turn sometimes but makes noises and works intermittently? Does nothing happen when you press the start button? One local guy paid a dealer $550 to go through the carbs. It did not increase the value of the bike that much.

I'[ll go through any VF/VFR carbs and fix whatever is wrong for just $175 + return shipping (usually less than $20). If parts need replacement, that's extra (at my cost, no markup) but most i see just need a proppa cleaning and adjustment, although i usually replace float bowl gaskets at no additional cost.:peaceful:

Price is OK if bike is clean and plastics are in good nick. Often a worn out starter means owner abuse + a bike with a history of not starting easily. You need to confirm that the engine will turn and that it shifts through the gears or you might be buying a heap of aggravation.

What's it worth ?? In good shape, with a clean tank, no rashed or missing plastics and a well-running engine, it's debatable, but i'd say between $1500 and $1800. Super-clean, low mileage examples can be as much as about $3200-$3500.
