Hi guys any ideas where I can get some new fork springs for my 91 vfr 750?? Lots of sag in the old ones and seals gone on forks so going to rebuild them up but as it's my budget runner not wanting to spend much! Cheers

Look for a straight rate spring to match your weight in your riding gear.

A quick google will show a handful of great companies. I have race tech.

Also mind the specs by the spring manufacturer for the spacer length if your bike uses them. Sometimes the spring manufacturer recommends a spacer length but since they supply springs for a number of applications you might have to cut the spacers. They are usually PVC and easily cut... Just make sure you cut em square.

Race Tech - Traxxion Dynamics, those are the two companies I have experience with. There is a cheapo company called Sonic that sells straight rate springs too, but caveat emptor

If the seals are toast the springs might be OK. If not, a set of progressives from Race Tech and seals is a good move. Your headstock bearing might be toast too. If it's sloppy replace it.

I've heard not so great things about progressive rate springs. Namely that when you go progressive you are starting with the same super weak spring you are trying to get rid of. So when braking you still get a lot of the nose dive.

Then when you hit a decent bump, you push through the appropriate spring rate for your weight and wind up in an overly harsh firmer aspect of the spring.

I'm not speaking from personal experience but from the advice of a motorcycle mechanic. He was no suspension pro that's for sure, but it seems to make sense.

I'm sure the guys at Race Tech would agree that their progressive springs are crap being suspension experts and all..

Cheers guys, I took them apart and added some spacers to take the sag out and put some thicker oil in and new seals and there certainly a lot better than before, shame the back is still bouncy as hell :(
