Ok, same values as said before, made 20 miles and stopped showed 13v, and another 20 with diferrent styles of riding, 12,80

Then, sensed a warm feeling near the battery, the RR was hot to the point I could not keep my finger on it. Not normal, or normal to get so extremely hot? Asked my father to try keeping his finger and his impression was the same

The connectors were fine and dandy, not crispy, or damaged. Very well preserved and cleaned. The one thing I saw, when changing to the new rectifier, It has a alluminium plate between the RR and the sub frame. Not the original one. Removed a partial installation of a optimate (cheap one from the previous owner), and saw written down on the stickers near the battery case 2 references (probably from the batteries from him at the time). So, nothing new, this bike had some issues before me. Lasted 6 months with no problems, and now they start.

Anyway, with the new rectifier, I have a constant 12,90, or 13 with lights on and off, and at idle, 14, 14.10.

After stops, the battery shows up more than 13.20, and at rest for the night, goes to 12.60 or less 12.45ish. Haven't done many long trips, just my normal commute, trips of 6/7 kms, and a total of 30 a day.

Am I using my bike wrong for commute????

I'll guess that will be needed a Optimate for battery maintenance from now on....

If your rectifier is that hot, I submit you have a grounding issue somewhere. If I were in your shoes, before I did anything else, I'd remove & clean all electrical connections & grounding points.

Ok, fairings off and check everything... that is going to be a interresting week of vacations next month... any points in particular? Any soft spots on the frame to consider more attention?

Can someone test the finger in RR to see if the temperature is like mine?

Finger to the R/R is too hot, from what I recall.

The aluminum on the back of the R/R is to "heat sink" - help transfer heat away from the R/R onto the frame of the bike.
